Have you ever bought a game that was labelled crappy just to experience its crappiness first hand?

I'm looking to do the same thing. I really liked Duke Nukem 3D back in the day (notably when I was much younger and my sense of humor was far more crude...), but I didn't buy Duke Nukem: Forever when it came out because I knew it wouldn't live up to that many years of expectations. So now I'm waiting for it to be at bargain bin price.

Which incidentally, is today. It's apparently on sale on Steam today for $9.99 USD. Still more than I'd really like to pay... but it's very, very tempting. And also very amusing that it's already dropped that low. Is that a record for a AAA release?
I'm hoping to get it for Xbox 360 and I'll be set myself, it was £12 used a few weeks ago and it's already down to £10 today, it'll only be a matter of time before it's cheap as hell. And I genuinely didn't see it going to drop this quickly. Not that I'm complaining mind.

I wanted to see whether the PS3 exclusive Haze, which killed its developer, Free Radical, was actually as bad as everyone said it was. I ended up liking it, and now one of the Mantel Troopers is my PSN avatar.

Two Worlds. A definite YMMV title, but it became one of the most memorable RPGs I've played. Probably not for the reasons intended, but still.

I bought Alone in the Dark for like $4, which is... about $2 too much. Also, I borrowed Vampire Rain just to see what it was like.

Don't. Don't take it even if someone pays you to. Burn it with fire.

I bought Shaq-Fu for the Super Nintendo. Sadly, it's in postal purgatory at the moment. I've filed a claim with Amazon since the seller wouldn't respond to my other two messages. I fear I may have been victimized by people who are actively hunting down and destroying copies of Shaq Fu.

I have also purchased Aquaman for the Xbox. I haven't played it yet because I really want to record myself and use the footage in a let's play or something.

Well... I kind of want to try Lair. Not really because it's said to be terrible, but because I think it looks kind of cool. Besides, the main problem was that it required six-axis controls, but now it doesn't... so it can't be all that bad.

I'm willing to give any game I play a chance, because some "crappy" games actually have a lot of potential to be fun. I don't really play to see how bad they are... unless they're, you know... reaaaaaaaally bad (E.T.).

once.. a game called State of Emergency. I bought it for $2 at gamestop because it was incredibly cheap and I wanted to see just how bad it was. it was a waste of $2.
Same here. I ended up giving it to a girl I was dating but didn't like very much. :) Unsurprisingly, she loved it.

Oh yeah, and Bullet Witch... *cringe*

Buy...no. But I'll be interested in trying it out in some (non-law-breaking) fashion.

Case in point, downloading the Daikatana demo.

I'm waiting for Duke Nukem to do exactly that and drop to £5 before I buy it. If I'm going to invest in something that's probably going to be terrible I don't want to pay a lot.
I played it for the same reason, and I was disappointed. It's not... great, but it isn't actually a thoroughly terrible product. It's just mediocre.

Hmmm ... if I had a Wii, I would have gotten "Escape from Bug Island" just to see how shitty it was (Electronic Gaming Monthly, or EGM, as it was called, gave it a "Shame of the Month" award.) I am also trying to find on YouTube a game that I think was called "Rouge Warrior". The one about the Navy Seal who fought the Russians ... I can't remember. However, I can't recall BUYING a game because I heard it was garbage. If I do, I'll edit it in.

However, I have done that when it comes to movies. I bought the Uwe Boll directed movie "Alone in the Dark" because I heard he was a terrible director. (In EGM, Seanbaby, who wrote his "Rest of the Crap" column, dedicated two whole pages in one of the issues to tearing up Uwe Boll and his movies.) To be honest, the movie, while it was bad, it wasn't THAT bad. Yes, I've never played an Alone in the Dark game, so I don't know how different the movie was from the game, but it wasn't THAT bad.

To be completely honest, if I had to choose between watching Avatar again or watching Alone in the Dark again, I would choose Alone in the Dark. Seriously.
