Have you ever bought something because of a commercial?

So I've been thinking lately, companies pay a lot of money to run advertisements on T.V, yet I have very very seldom ever purchased something because I saw it on T.V. I really can't imagine a person who hears an advertisement for Sham-wow and really decides they want to buy that product. So guys, have you ever bought something because you saw a commercial for it? Do you think its a gamble for companies to spend so much money on advertising their products? Am I a complete idiot who knows nothing about how business works?

Hmm.. well movie commercial make me consider movies I ordinarily wouldn't but I don't know if that counts as buying anything.

No, but I think Twilight was guilty of subliminal messaging. I heard about it by chance when looking up something else on Wikipedia (I get sidetracked very easily), and then kept hearing references to it everywhere for about 3 weeks, before buying the books. I actually liked it, surprisingly. Plus, this was all long before the film came out so it wasn't even movie promotion.

American McGee's Alice seems to be doing the same thing, I've heard references to it everywhere, and I can't find the damn game anywhere I look, which is pissing me off greatly...

V8 juice. Vegetable and fruit juice. Just sounded good on the commercials, so I gave it a go. Good stuff.

And I vividly remember seeing a commercial for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on TV when it was first coming out. My sister and I freaked out and started yelling about how we had to get it ASAP.

Only One time. I was a kid. I saw a commercial on tv for a thing called POX or something of the sort. They were like these little devices that had creatures that you would fight with other people who had the device. The commercial made them look awesome with a 3D battle and all.

When I actually got it, it was like a 2d little piece of trash that reminded me of the earliest tomagachi things.

Never again.

Someone said it earlier but I usually am very susceptible to advertising when it comes to food more than I am products of any kind. The reason a movie or game commercial has never affected my decision to buy it is because by the time the DVD comes out I'm already aware of the movies existance and made my decision about whether or not I plan to spend money on it.

But yeah, often food, fast food or otherwise I will be interested in if the food looks good. Occasionally I see commercials for products such as Sham-WoW or whatever and think to myself "Ooh, convenient. That would be quite nice to have" but it doesn't mean I've ever bought it. Truth be told I don't think I've ever ordered something by phone (except pizza and chinese food)
