Well, I can't speak for the UK, but it's insanely illegal here in the States. Cops will shoot you just for thinking about fashioning homebrew explosives.
Eek.

Note to self: check local laws on self made fireworks...

However, I should be fine. We do have a National Pyromaniacs Society, which is knows to give out handbooks with helpful recipes, so I doubt the law is too harsh... I hope...

Bar tending at 17.

You're not allowed to serve alcohol in Britain until over 18 (the legal drinking age). Only found out at the end of the night.
Oh dear, I'll add that to my list of accidental crimes (I've helped serve drinks several times, and I'm only 15)

Let me see...
Smuggling fireworks (multiple times), working when I was still under aged and a lady by the cash register gave me 25€ of change even though I had a cart load of goods and I gave her 25€. So I received my money back and some food to go.

I'm still ashamed of what I did when I was young.

I'm glad that we're not talking about grandfathers because he is a grade A smuggler (souvenir guns, electronic appliances, coffee,...). Ok the last few items can be bought abroad now but it was illegal to do so in our country 25 years ago. :)

I went trespassed on someone else's property when I was in preschool. To pick clover for my mom. I've all but forgotten it now, but I felt guilty for years after.

I know a guy that blew the skin off one of his hand with homemade fireworks. There was just a pile of the stuff on the floor and he totters over to light the stuff (completely shitfaced) I'm like "dude, you sure that's safe?", he goes "Stop being such a pussy" BOOM. So I had to take him to him to A&E, funniest thing was when I was getting him in the car and he said "You can't drive, you shouldn't drink and drive".

There's a street corner that I always walk across at a diagonal because all the walk signs are on. Apparently that is illegal even though that is why you would have all of the walk signs on at once.

Well, beings that it's illegal, I won't specifically state what it was on this site, but I got into a certain type of porn for a while and later found out that it's illegal.
You disgust me young sir.
Rofl I do hope it's not what I think too!

I once ran from a restaurant bill, cause I thought it would be kind of funny.
Turns out there's a law against it? Obviously they're hit pretty hard by pranksters it seems.

EDIT:

Oh, a fellow Estonian!

Yeah, believe me, aside that I've lived here my whole life, and have relatives and friends here, I don't like this country at all. I don't have any plans, but I want to go to UK when I finish university.
Planning on leaving this place when I finish up with school too, I don't like where this country is going, well I dont like it now either but you get the point, but its always nice to see a fellow Estonian on the internets.
If you don't like countries that are going downhill fast steer well clear of the UK....

I could have been fined for possessing live ammunition without lisence about 12 years ago, when I found unused ammo in the old trenches on Finland's eastern border and didn't turn it to the police.

Uhhm no. I have done things that I KNEW were illegal. Drinking before 16 years old, and I nicked a pack of pokemon cards once when I was, I dunno, twelve? I did that one real clever too. I picked out one pack and pretended to examine it, but I actually took out TWO and put back only ONE.

God I am such an IDIOT. A clever idiot, but what the hell.

This thread reminds me of one of my childhood shenanigans...

When i was 7, in school we were told to ask the teacher before we could use their pencil sharpener, at the time i actually thought it was illegal to use their pencil sharpener without asking.

One day my teacher got high or something (or they were just busy lol) and was ignoring everyone, and then all of a sudden...SNAP goes my writing utencil of awesomeness, and i didnt have a sharpener i could use or borrow from some1, so i decided to use the teachers sharpener even though i thought it was illegal, i did it quickly and quietly.

That event haunted me and made me feel guilty for 4 years...until i decided to let it out to my older brother, and then he told me it wasnt illegal and then hit me. So really its kind of the opposite of what the OP did.

I was such a retard back then...

I've smuggled a yogurt through Liverpool airport security just after the 7/7 bomb plot, i had no idea it was in my hand luggage. I reakon the security guy just looked at me, saw i didn't look Muslim and waved me on, or he just didn't notice.

I've also trespassed a few times onto private property (farmer's feild) as well as council property.

And as someone said, apparently certain forms BDSM is illegal in the UK. I don't care, as long as it's consentual there is nothing wrong with it.

Still, i expect to hear the police knocking on my door soon...

When I was three, the only phone number I knew was the emergency services (police), so I would call their number and hang up. Imagine the shock of my parents when a police officer traced our number and showed up at our door. OO Yeah, little me never made a prank phone call ever again.

Hmm, I don't think that I've ever done something illegal, and not known that it was illegal.

Either way, I'd probably do what I was doing regarlessly.

I once tried to buy a drink from a vending machine, I put in a two pound coin but the machine didn't register it. So I did the coin return and it only gave me a 10p! So I went to the cafeteria staff and told them and got a £2 coin from them. it turns out I only put 10p into the machine so got a free 2 quid and a drink.

...

Okay so its not as good as the other replies in this thread :p

Went to a little window shop in this theatre (School trip to see JacK and the Beanstalk) and went to buy a Twister ice lolly thing, forgot to pay, simple mistake, i only noticed i didn't pay when i got home. Back in the day £1 could have bought you a week's worth of happiness.
