I felt bad in Re4 when i accidently killed ashley in the first few chapters but as soon as i made to the castle i just thought said fuck it and couldn't care less. The same in Re5 for sheva but after the 2nd level with a AI i couldn't even care.

you can ask any of my friends and they will all tell you the same thing:

"what did you ask?......Aidan? killing an npc?........just for the hell of it???"

"are you insane man? theres more chance of hitler raising from his grave than that happening.
now here's a real question for you...how the hell did you get into my house!!!"

I bring it all down to my simple gamer code "GAMING MORALS". put simply I swore long ago that I would ever intentionally kill or/and harm any non-hostile or innocent npcs.
Also I would never play an evil story line or as a evil character (this made prototype a long LONG game)

some people call me weird for this, some even say i'm crazy but i simply smile and come back with...with....urrmmmm......wait a minute......why the hell am i so damn good all the time?

In Fallout 3 when I killed Sydney for her Ultra 10mm. SMG. Then I found out I could have gotten it without killing her.
I tried to team up with her, but when I accidentaly lead her over a trap, I reset the game to try again. The second time she Leeroyed into a group of 3-4 super mutants. Last I saw her she ran off through a door, and an explosion went off immediatly after. It was then that I realised that she was a complete moron.

In Oblivion, there was this female orc in Leyawinn that I was ordered to team up with. She was being a total ***** and I actually thought about leading her into an Oblivion gate and letting her fend for herself. After taking her to where she needed to go I found that, while she was impatiant, she had pretty good reasons for being so. After she died on our next mission together I really wanted to go back to a previous save, but there was nothing recent...so I looted her body and left her corpse naked in a dungeon.

Bottom line: Bethesda's friendly AI is pathetic and you should never feel sympathy for characters that die because of it EVER!

Only named NPCs that I talked to for a while.

I have no problem with committing mass-genocide in Stilwater by blowing up random cars on the highway with a Tornado copter, running them over with the Bear, or even when they dive in the way of your speeding car.

But oddly, I do feel bad sometimes when I kill people in game. That usually means it has good immersion though!

On rare occasions when I play a sandbox game to play it and not to run around killing like a freak, I feel bad about killing civilians and such. Once there was this old man on GTA IV and he jumped in front of my fist and got knocked on his back. I stood there staring at him thinking, "Oh don't worry he'll just get back up" and then a puddle of blood started to form around his head.

At first, but now I've become a callous NPC killing machine with a black hole for a heart. The only ones I ever leave alive are those I feel could possibly be useful or are allied with those that might be useful.

Only the old people in Saint's Row 2, for a non-serious game those oldsters really know how to crank up the guilt, especially when you hit them with a stun-gun and watch them spasm for a good five minutes.
You kidding me? I had the most fun with them because they cant jump out of the way of my car for Catch.

Drive into them with an open back truck so they fly in air then try and catch them. So fun.

But I felt guilty killing those two old people in Megaton. They were so innocent and the woman was a great part of Megaton. Well ... She WAS anyway.

Well I sympathise with the little man so I do sometimes feel bad fer offing them. But actually the times that it hits me most is when I have grunts playing with me and I fail saving them I'm not bothered with the scripted stuff but when I could of saved nameless grunt 1 but thats not me killing them so it dont count

No, because they aren't real! However I was a bit gutted in the first Res Evil when Barry died! I was therefore delighted when I found out you could save him!

You were almost a Jill sandwich to quote the great man!

I feel bad for killing quest givers, I generally try and be as evil as possible even if it means missing stuff that good characters would get (unless I can easily make back the evil points).

I generally avoid killing really important people though, just so I can get their crazy good items/stat buffs/exclusive area, whatever it is.

Metal Gear has a fair few moments.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

MGS4 threw a fair few bosses our way that were either psychologically damaged due to horrific events, or were doing it for the greater good all along. MGS3 had that pretty intense fight with The Boss at the end.

Once. It happens near the end of Fate Stay Night's third route. For the most part I'm pretty merciless though, I would actually kill Ashley as a crude way of Quickloading in RE 4.

I felt bad launching the cow in the beginning of Earthworm Jim, especially at the ending. It was unavoidable, but I still was crying on the inside (I was laughing my head off on the outside.). Of course, the cows have gotten their revenge ever since.

Sometimes. Generally I'll avoid killing the ones I feel bad about killing.
