Or rather, ever felt ripped off? Of course everyone has, but since the escapist has no blog section, I will post my rant here.

I recently purchased Halo Wars limited edition, I have no problem with the gameplay, but I do have a problem with being lied too. Well technically it was not a lie, just not the whole truth. The only reason I bought the limited edition, is because of the Honour Guard Wraith, the previews for the game said exlcusive in game UNIT, not exclusive in game SKIN OF A UNIT. I didn't even want the Halo 3 maps or the stupid graphic cards, or even the fucking spirit of fire patch!

So has anyone else had a similar experience with any game?

By the way, I love the gameplay, it is so much fun to rush people with an elephant.

The SR2 port for PC. The game is literally unplayable in all aspects. I would have gotten greater satisfaction out of slapping a hobo across the face with 40$

I have felt gypped several times after buying games. The one that always leaps into my head is Enter the Matrix, which I pre-ordered and purchased on opening day. That was the day that I learned to try before I buy - no exceptions.

I bought Kotor 2 at Armageddon expo, got it home, and the disk was completely scratched. by the time I realised, the expo had moved on.

RED ALERT 3

Really, if it had not been a gift, I would have gone to the store and demanded my money back.
A horrible, horrible game.

I'll assume that reskin means "just a different paintjob", if so, then yes thats all it is, and the best part is, you can't even use it in xbox live matches!

Hired out L4D on 360 when I have it on PC.... dear god the framerate and detail was terrible on 360. I felt embarrassed trying to show it off to my 360 fanboy friends since they havent played it.

Fable 2, I didn't bother reading up on the things that were cut from the limited edition so when I went to the store you can safely assume my great disappointment. Also with Spiderman 3, I played the second one and thought it was pretty fun so I figured this would be just as much. NOOOOOOOOO! I think I might have broke the sound barrier with the speed at which I ran back to the store.

Two things spring to mind.

1. Eternal Sonata
I was young at heart once. Foolishly, I thought that my 360's game library was lacking in the Japanese Role Playing Game (Acronyms are for suckers) department. I should have bought Blue Dragon...
If anyone has seen the Unskipable video for this game, that wasn't the entirety of the intro movie, there is even more after that. The dialogue is nauseating and has a tendency to drag on and on, then repeat itself just in case you missed out on the naive preachy bullshit the first time around.
I had the clever idea of switching the dialogue to Japanese so I couldn't understand most of it (having forgotten pretty much everything from the four years of Japanese classes I took in school). But dialogue still took so very long, so I occupied myself by leaving for the kitchen and making myself a sandwich and would repeat this process if the dialogue was not finished by the time I had eaten it. I've lost track of exactly how many kilograms (I'm using the metric system, deal with it) I gained, but it was quite a few months after I stopped playing the game before my body size was back to an acceptable level.
The game is really short too, it took me about seven days of occasionally forcing myself to play for a few hours in order to reach the end, which was about fifteen minutes of the characters taking turns pulling environmentalist propaganda out of their asses.
I used to like Japanese Role Playing Games, I had a lot of fun with them in my pre-360 days, but now... I... I just don't think I'm ready to run that risk again... My 360 shall remain Japanese Role Playing Game-less.

2.Empire: Total War

The jury (if you will) is still out on this one, but if a patch fixing all the problems I've had doesn't arrive soon, I'm going to have to kill someone. When I bought Total War, I was kind of expecting to be able to play it, rather than it fucking up halfway through the loading screen and cutting out eight times out of ten ever since I used steam *shakes fist at steam* to get the extra units that were supposed to come with the version I bought.
I'll say this now, I don't like the idea of having to use steam for my games. I like the Internet, really I do, it's brought me some great things, and was a fantastic help during my awkward, pimply and sex crazed teenage years. But I'd much prefer to have a more, manual way of playing and maintaining my games than having some powerful Internet conglomerate keeping hold of it for me. Despite the fact that I am a 360 gamer (Oh ho!), I would prefer to have a more reliable and stable way of playing my own games.
That said, if the patch comes through fast enough, maybe I wont kill anyone. Maybe.

Mirror's Edge was such a let down. I had been looking forward to it for months and months and when I finally got to play it, I had to choke it down like so much broccoli. So much erratic, broken, cheeseless broccoli.

Where to begin?
Any PC game that I stupidly purchased without incredible research, Halo 2/3, Bioshock, Fallout3, Oblivion (huge Morrowind fan), anything Blizzard ever released outside of Diablo 2 and Warcraft 2, KOTOR 2's storyline, any racing game other than NFS Black, all but the second Burnout, Turok 2/3, Resistance Fall of Man, Dues Ex: Invisible War, Thief 3, anything by Will Wright (Sims, Sim City, Spore, etc.), or by Peter M. (the guy who did Fable, Black and White, etc. I can't spell his last name off the top of my head), all of the original Half Life expansions (with the exception of opposing force), anything by BioWare (other than the original KOTOR, and Mass Effect), all shooters for PC beginning the day Doom 3 came out (with a few exceptions), any MMORPG I've ever touched, and anything other than Brawl I've ever played for the Wii.
I also felt ripped off for simply playing the demo of the new Turok. I still want my expectations back from the developer. Or money.
I'm also worried about Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.
So yes, I've felt ripped off paying for games before, and I will again, many times I'm sure, until people put a bit of effort into the craft.

Some one said this to me awhile ago but it was a good point, "How do you make a game based around blowing sh!t up boring!?"

Anyway my biggest let down was Army of two, holy hell my money was still warm from being in my pocket when I got it back.

Are you kidding.. theres so much slowdown when a horde of zombies come at you, the 360 version is like the PC version on the lowest settings.

I forget what the name of the game was, but it was a Dragonball Z game for...i think the PS2. It was obviously a port of some arcade game, but I'm not sure how the ARCADE GAME did well either. There were only about 7 playable characters, maybe just a few more, and one of them was chichi. I was like...u couldn't put buu in there, but chichi? HELL YEAH. One of the worst games I've ever played, so glad it was only a rental.
