Have you ever given up on a game for any reason and just watched the rest of it on youtube.

Dunno, could be those impossibly hard bosses in FF games that only FF nerds in Japan can complete or it just get boring, or you messed up a save and cba arsed to start all over again etc. Either way, you though f*** this, I've completed this game, I don't care if I haven't gotten to the end, I'll watch the rest on youtube.

Like I said, FF7, 8, 9, and 13 did this to me, the only two FF games I've completed 100% and not 99% were 12 and 10. I also gave up on other games for being too long, too boring, too complexed and others because I buggered up files.

....I would say that Heavy Rain will probably appear here but due to the QTEs actually creating imersion the story is best if played.

I don't think I've ever quit a game that had a story worth sticking around for.

I gave up on Neverwinter Nights 2 and read an LP for the rest of it if that counts. Can't say I missed much to be honest. The expansion on the other hand is quite awesome.

Dwarf Fortress is really the only one that I can think of. I gave up Xenogears after a terrible platforming bit appeared, but I still haven't looked up the videos for it.

Silent Hill 2, I bought it in a bargain bin thinking to myself:
"I'm not much of a Silent Hill fan, but everyone says it is a very deep game, so lets see."

Unfortunately while the whole story thing is quite good, actually playing the game is just painful. So after a few months of procrastination "I'll just load it back up and get it over with one day.." I instead opted to just watch some videos of someone else play through it with all the cutscenes.

Amnesia the Dark Descent.

I made it about 15 minutes into the game before I was too terrified to go on.

Figuring I should get some moneys worth of enjoyment instead of just the warm glow of having donated to a developer for doing exactly what they promised to do (scaring the shit out of me), I just watched someone playthrough on Youtube.

I was still really scared :-X

I actually did this with Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Not because it was hard or I was scared (well maybe I was a little bit) but because I'm a bit strapped for cash, and didn't want to spend any more money. The story looked really interesting, and I wanted to see how it went.

Plus, people's screams when playing are always priceless.

The first 3 Resident Evils. I couldn't stand the camera. I watched the rest on Youtube because I was interested in the story.

Harder games (or ones that require insane amounts of grinding) such as Disgaea and... anything made by Atlus, frankly. I really lack the time and patience.

I watch LPs of games I might like to play, but probably wont get my hands on anytime soon. That's kinda giving up I guess

I do watch LP's sometimes, but usually it's for games that I don't consider to be worth my time/money. If I buy a game, I either finish it or let it rot when I get sick of it, there isn't really any middle ground.

I gave up on ever seeing TR Underworld DLC, so I watched Lara's Shadow LP on Youtube and was suddenly less upset about missing out.

Also Witch Hunt (DAO), similar reaction.

Not really sure what the point of Witch Hunt is, instead of Morrigan disappearing mysteriously to who knows where, you're now flush with the knowledge she disappeared mysteriously to who knows where.

Not really. I've given up on games, and I've watched a couple being played for the fun of it (The unskippable let's play, for example, as I've never played that game), but I've never watched a game online because I couldn't beat it. That seems like it'd be boring. I never could understand why people like to watch other play games unless they're joking around and stuff (again, for example, the unskippable thing was less about the game and more about listening to the two talk). My friends love watching me play games and not playing themselves, which I find very strange.

I've actually never quit a game just to watch the rest of it on Youtube. If I have the time to watch, I might as well be playing. Except for the final boss of FFXIII.

Because fuck that guy.

You fully completed 11? Can that even be done with an MMO? :O

I've never given up on a game and watched the rest of it, no. I have however watched a full playthrough of Metal Gear Solid 4 on youtube, since I'm a big fan of the series and wanted to see how it ended, but don't own a PS3 and therefore couldn't play it myself.

Yup! Metro 2033.

I got about 1/3 of the way through and realised that the ballistics were awful (Sniper shots around tight corners would collide with walls when my aim was dead-on), I realised that I wasn't enjoying the game and watched a lets play of it. A real shame because I loved the book and pre-ordered the game about a month in advance. I'm still behind the project and am trying to find a version of Metro 2034 in English but the game was very dissapointing.
