Of course it's not gay, you don't have to be gay to know if someone looks good or not. Adding to that, if I was hanging out with people and I said a guy looked good/hot and they started asking if I was gay in a serious/worried tone, I'd stop hanging out with those people because that's stupid.

Eh I think it was half joking half serious, I don't usually bring up things like that so I just think I caught them off guard.

Wouldn't say I've had an actual crush but I definitely notice when a guy looks good. I think it's a reflex from the primitive monkey hindbrain: "Crap, with this dude in the room I don't have a chance, better bash his brains out with a rock" sort of a thing.

So this got me thinking, why can a girl comment on how beautiful she thinks another girl is, but when a guy comments on how handsome he thinks another guy is it's suddenly gay?

It's society's double standard at work again. Lesbian action is hot, gay action is icky.

I don't know that it's a double standard. Lesbian action (well, to me, real "lesbian action" between two attractive women) IS hot, whereas gay action is "icky." But that's just because I'm one of those people who thinks that all men, myself included, are icky. Actually treating someone as if they are strange for one and not for the other is a double standard.

Chris Hemsworth is a very, very, handsome man...one of my female friends was talking about how hot he was. And I agreed.

Most straight men don't comment on how attractive they think another guy is. This is for two primary reasons, beyond the homophobia that is characteristic of some of us.
1. We don't care
2. We aren't attracted to men at all, so the thought isn't there in the first place.

I think you define man-crush differently from how most of us do. Man-crush is usually meant to indicate that a guy has admiration for another man that either borders on obsessive or makes for an easy opportunity for the insipid to be homophobic. It's yet another chance to homo-eroticize everything. Look, it's Sam and Frodo walking up the path to Mount Doom. That's homoerotic. Here's two wrestlers in spandex pile driving each other - that's homoerotic. Look, two gay guys sucking each other off - that's homoerotic. I'm sick of it!

Where was I? Anyway, I'm sure you're as adverse to labels as a lot of people are, but if you're actually attracted to men and find yourself saying things like the bolded statements above, you may want to look into the possibility that you are gay or bi.
