Have you ever idly thought up a terrorist attack strategy?

Mostly only the fact you could rig a lap top in to a small EMP device and have it look very like a normal laptop. wouldn't have a huge range or anything but in the right place...

What would be my target?
Something small scale, like a school?
Then I would simply activate the fire alarm, stand where the students are set to assemble and use some frag grenades. Mission accomplished, exit strategy depends on the venue.

The assassination of a high-ranking member of the public?
Aquire certain proteins that regulate bodily functions, mix them with a certain set of chemicals that enables them to traverse the skin, put on a realistic-looking set of latex-skin gloves, apply solution to hands, shake targets hand, watch as he dies of "natural causes" a day/few days later.
(Note: Staying vague so as not to give anyone ideas, also, aquiring said chemicals is not easy if you aren't working in a lab that has a reason to deal with that kind of stuff9

Taking down a plane (no hijacking, simple blowing it up):
First: You need an elderly fanatic. A grandmother e.g., have her undergo hip-replacement surgery, fill her femur with plastic explosives and a special hip prothesis that doubles as a detonator, which, in turn, is activated by a remote-control disguised as an insulin-pump.
Nervousness in the elderly is usually attributed to fear of flying, and, in that specific case, can be attributed to pain as well, since he/she just had a major surgery. Then you get her a window seat, preferrably over the wing and boom goes the grandma.

Another very effective way to go, especially in an urban environment would be a so-called "suitcase nuke" or several of them. They are extremely hard to come by, but, since I am not vested in real-world black-market affairs, which I would have to be in order to become a succesful terrorist, I leave the acquisiton to you.
This suitcase nuke you place in a crowded space in a hard-to-access spot, possibly close to a famous landmark. Get far enough away and have it detonate, make sure to use both, a timer and a remote-control, whilst ensuring that you do not send threats before the act but rather take credit afterwards.

That would be my first take on this topic, maybe I come up with more later.

One more:
Detonate a powerfull EMP ins a major commerce-center and watch the global economy spiral downwards. (Recommended target: Wall Street or Silicon Valley)

It's actually something of a daily reflex for me. I've taken many classes about how to think like a terrorist... good ol' US Army put me on the path to becoming a paranoid delusional.
Same here.. but the RAF instead... it's what we are paid to do! :/

It also doesn't mean I would ever do it... in fact quite the opposite! I'm more likely to stop it!

Yes. And I still have no idea why they can't do things better. The whereabouts of god knows how many politicians and other high-profile people are readily available most of the time. No matter how much security they have, if you can see their face, you can shoot it. It's not like they can't afford sniper rifles.

And nothing stops anyone from using sarin like Aum Shinrikyo. Nobody questions a paper left on the ground. There is just such ample opportunity, which leads me to believe that either territorists are a very niche group, or they're very disorganised. I think it's a combination of the two.

Sniping is not easy in any way so I understand why you'd want to avoid that. You miss the shot it just alerts everyone and your target starts running.

Steal a faster plane. Not a commercial thing. Just something really fast, a military one, or a Leer Jet from a rich **** would probably be easier.

Pack it with explosives if possible. Scream ALALALALALALALAH as you fly into the new building they're erecting next to the WTC or the pentagon or white-house.

Eh, I've tried to figure out how to assassinate high level individuals before, though those individuals were fictional. Gotta love nation-roleplay, because sometimes you really just don't want to start a war but you want that enemy leader dead.

Looking back most of my ideas were silly, like trying to transport a sniper rifle with the individual parts in plastic bags. You remove half their liver and you've got a nice storage space for things. Then you have a doctor on the other side who takes the parts out and flies out of the country the next day for some kind of business meeting. Of course, this was just to get a high powered rifle into a dictatorship with incredibly strict rules on firearms. I'm sure there was an easier way to do it.

But I haven't really thought about anything that crazy lately, I stoppled playing CNRP and nothing else I'm doing really needs me to think up crazy terrorist attacks. Now I'm busy with school and video games. :D

Uh, well, yeah. Part of it is again, a mystery book idea (Centered around a london detective who is trying to uncover what really happened because he believes it is "Too" perfect). But a lot of my idly ramblings have been more along the lines of "Why has this not happened?"

I mean, Airports. There are the planes, to get to which you go through half a billion xrays and whatnot. And then there is the security queue itself, hundreds of people packed into as small a space as intelligence queue design can create.

Or just trains.

Basically, I wonder why people have not just shot people on buses, trains, things like that. Its almost unstoppable, all that is required is a nutter to get hold of a pistol (And even over here in Blighty that would not be that hard) and small things like that scare people more then huge things like 9/11

I mean, what is more terrifying overall? Huge plots like 9/11 and 7/7 that get stopped? Or monthly attacks with light weaponry?

*cough*

This has always been obvious to me.

Why not just attack shopping centres? Undefended and very high density, fuck going after aeroplanes.
Or sports stadiums. During the finals.

Realistically if you want to kill millions of people you would do better to rely on their inherent stupidity. Make flying cars, or jetpacks, but not show people how to control them.
Invent a new poison that makes people lose weight rapidly before they die.
Buy all the supermarkets and replace all the till staff with self service checkouts with no attendants.

Or just tell people that you will give away a billion pounds to the winner in a huge arena fight to the death, no entry criteria, last man standing takes all.

Funny how paranoid so many of us get at the thought of someone identifying us for saying something on the internet.

The real question is...what would you say if you knew everyone could attribute everything that you said on the internet to you!

Well, i have not only though up but also wrote down multiple strategies how, having enough funds you could extremely safely smuggle nuclear weapons into any country. oen of them involves tractors with fake engines, woot. but trust me, those would definitely work. for obvious reasons i wont go into details that go technical of the legal setup of front companies for that since i dont want to be held responsible afterwards.
for other type of terrorism... well... i make something new every day, but not all is really going to work.
yes i have very violent mind. i dream about nuking new york and so on. but im not really going to become a terrorist jut because i could.

as far as books are concerned, here in Lithuania it is illegal to define the creation of explosives in any media. if you were to write formula of a bomb you would end up in jail.

The real question is...what would you say if you knew everyone could attribute everything that you said on the internet to you!
if they WANTED, they COULD. i dont hide my connection. but i say good, let them put the face to the words.

Lots of anxiety in this thread. The FBI doubtlessly doesn't care about your casual thoughts (Unless they do, oh lawd).

But basically, the simplest terrorism strike would be to get a big backpack, make some simple explosive, fill the backpack with it and a generous amount of metal shrapnel/ball bearings, rig a simple detonator, and go to the nearest festival. Wait until the biggest crowd congregates, initialise the detonation sequence, discreetly drop the backpack (maybe have it in hand instead of on your back to start with) and casually walk away.

Come to think of it, I kinda feel nervous now. Anxiety now not fully discredited.

Or you could travel around the country knifing random people in their sleep, leaving a racial tribute at each scene.

No but i do think up weird little assassination tools for example

Under the right hand below the wrist is a Hypodermic needle containing some form of slow acting but highly toxic/lethal poison.

The left hand contains a palm trigger that pushes the plunger on the hypodermic needle down on the right hand.

I would need to stalk my target in a crowded area like a town center try and find out where and when they are in areas with a big group of people.

I would need a long coat like a trench coat to conceal my hands.

Then i would either bump into the target from behind or from the front, yell oh christ sorry when i bump into them distracting them from the quick sharp pain of the needle and poisen going into them.

Then carry on about my way.

The tricky part i guess would be making sure the poison didn't sting like a ***** when it entered and then target.

'Course I have. Don't you think when I hear of all the 'mericans shopping on black friday, that I want to plant a hidden bomb at the entrance of every wallmart in the us. When I heard of the Dark Knight Rises shooting, I was surprised that it happened so late. Surely this can't be the first shooting at a major movie premiere. I mean, if you're a killer, then this is the perfect opportunity to kill, with so many people gathering at the same place.

I've never thought up a terrorist attack. Not that I'm taking a moral high ground or anything. I've just never really thought of one.

I've thought up plenty of bank robberies, hold ups and of other money motivated crimes though.
