Well, I can't really speak for Dead Weather, but Them Crooked Vultures are awesome and I don't blame you for falling under their spell.

I can't really think of any bands that I inexplicably like. If there's no reason for me to like the band, I don't listen to them. But every band that I listen to has something about them to win my affection.

Yeah, I just got turned on to this band called Die Antwoord (slang German for "the answer") and I really like them, though I don't usually like that kind of music... At the least, they're really unique; I've never heard anything quite like this... Here's a link if anyone else wants to have a listen:

I don't know why I listen to most of the bands I do, I just like them. All though most fit under the broad deffenition of "Rock".

Breaking from this theme is the band I'm downloading now called "Show of Hands" which is sort of acousticy/folky sort of thing which doesn't really match the rest of my music. I just like them.

Glad you liked it... I'm trying to infect as many people with this as I can. You can listen to the full album at www.dieantwoord.com and it comes out some time this month...

Celldweller - it does a lot of things that I freely disparage and yet somehow makes it work. I honestly cannot explain why I like it.

Since when were Dropkick Murphys metal?
Well there are certain parallels you could make between them and various Folk Metal acts due to their shared Celtic Folk elements, but yeah, I wouldn't describe them as metal either. They're a hardcore punk/folk group.

Every K-Pop band I like. They sing songs about the same topic with the same type of music and even though the lyrics might be nonsensical I can't help but listen.

No.

If I like a song it's because it makes me feel something, I don't care what artist or genre it is.

No, never.

I always know precisely why I like something that I like, down to the tiniest detail. I guess that's what comes from having postgrad qualifications in music and then working in the music industry your whole life, you become really analytical about everything musical. To a certain extent that comes at a price - music doesn't seem quite as magical anymore once you understand everything from how it's made, to the theoretical structure of it, to the engineering and production aspects, to the physical, psychoacoustic and psychological/emotional aspects of it. I envy people who are ignorant of all that stuff, sometimes.

Alestorm too
Alestorm is Scottish.

If I like a band, I just do, It usually has something to do with their songs being good.
So no, I haven't liked a band without known reason.
