Have you ever listened to a song you enjoy, and after a while realized the lyrics are questionable?

The song, or at least the chorus anyway, is about oral sex. Or at least that's what I remember hearing about the song anyway.

Apparently this song is an anti-abortion song. I still like the music though.

It's about masturbating, dammit! Or maybe I just had a spectacularly dirty mind the day I noticed.

Sting - Every Breath You Take.

Considering I like folk music (amongst many other styles), it was pretty much inevitable. They didn't have much to sing about back then. Most recent example was Willy O'Winsbury. King or not, telling your daughter to get naked so you can inspect her hymen is just really fucking weird and wrong.

Then he decides the guy who took her virginity must be hanged. I haven't actually been able to listen to the song since the day I started listening to the lyrics. Maybe the lyrics being nigh unintelligible as sung was intentional.

Take any song, listen to the lyrics. Repeat but think about them for a bit. Questionable meanings will arise almost instanteously. And when I say any song, I mean ANY song. That's why I listen to just music. Also lyrics for a plethora of songs tend to sound stupid.

No, usually the lyrics are one of the first things I notice and if I object to the lyrics I won't listen.

Megadeths United Abominations. Soundwise it's awesome, but after a while I realised it's just Dave whining about how UN wouldn't help USA with their wars.

Better stalker song would be

a song about stalking someone, obsessing over them and strangling them to death and asking for forgiveness.

Muse is awesome btw.

A friend of mind didn't realize that "The way you move" by Outcast was about sex until I pointed it out....

But Yeah, There are a couple of Japanese songs I love that when I read a translation of the lyrics I Realized that I was listening to teenage girl pop music. I've never been so glad to not understand Japanese.

Nope, not working for me;

Lyrics [http://www.lyricstime.com/killradio-entertained-lyrics.html]

Lyrics [http://www.metrolyrics.com/please-sir-lyrics-pitchshifter.html]

Baby, I don't want no flowers for my birthday, oh no.
And baby, I don't want to book a trip and go away, oh no.
I just want you to love me like you used to, oh yeah.
Throw me on the bed, tell me all the lovin' that you're gonna do, oh yeah.
I've been a good boy, I put away my toys,
I know you still got it, baby, come on let's make some noise.
Love me like you used to.

Baby, there's one rule in love and life you gotta save, oh yeah.
Give me what I need, all I'm gonna wanna be is your slave, oh yeah.
A man isn't hard to understand, I need a lovin' plan.
I swapped my heart for your hole, help me clear my head and lose my load please lend a hand, oh yeah.
Let's close the door and play,
nothin' wrong with a Wednesday, moan and groan and scream until the neighbors complain.
Love me like you used to.

^Random songs from the last three albums with lyrics in that I listened to in my car. Some in this thread are pretty good examples like that Rainbow one, though I don't see what's the big deal with Dreamtale's anal sex tune. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not and is hardly shocking.

Wow. Never noticed that, and that is one of my favorite songs of theirs! :/ Thanks for ruining it you assholes... Same with Dancing with Myself! But, then again, I was kind of asking for it by creating this thread. :p Bring on the squick! :D
Haha, glad to be of service! :)

Well I listen to quite a handful of National Socialist black metal bands.
I agree that most Death Metal isn't supposed to be taken seriously but those NSBM bands are. They are racist scum who don't deserve a penny nor promotion. Fuck them.

It took me quite a few listens to that song to realize something wasn't quite right.

It was the first time I saw the accompanying video that I realized what it was about.
