I will explain what I mean by this. You have beaten a game yes but not without using some sort of cheat code or special thing that is not normally allowed within the game.
For me it would have to be Return to Krondor. Which is an old computer game. My dad found a way to get unlimited magic by changing something in the programming to unlock the cheat code enterer thing.

How about you is there any game that you have never legitimately beat?

There are a few games that I didn't beat without using cheats:

Gex 3 (invincibility)
Oddworld Strangers Wrath (again, invincibility)

Those are two games that I can remember off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure there are other games I never legitimately beaten.

I never cheat out of difficulty because I am normally playing for the challenge.

But, there are some games where I have to cheat because without doing so I would be bored out of mind.

Sadly Bioshock 2 was this. I just felt like I had already played the game, luckily buying all the plasmids made it bearable enough to finish.

San Andreas. i really tried to beat it, but i just couldnt. i felt too constrained without being able to spawn a harrier all the time. in the end i used a cheat disk to get a completed save.

and i dont regret it one bit. :)

Due to a glitch that made me unable to get up onto a certain platform and progress the game, I was unable to beat Half-Life in a legitimate manner. So, I had to use noclip to beat the game.

I beat a race in F-Zero GX by being launched off the course in such a way, I went over the finsh line. Bloody amazing, and such a relief as I was in third place and thought I'd lost it.

I'm also going through Red Faction Armageddon using cheats, but it's insane playthough. Besides, my brother wants it ASAP as he loves Red Faction.

Man, it's been a long time since I've heard someone mention Betrayal and Krondor / Return to Krondor! Awesome games.

Starcraft. Twas ages ago that I did beat it, but that was with cheat codes sadly...specifically, the Zerg campaign. All the others I've finished legitimately since then, but I've not gone back and worked through that one yet.

Knights of the Old Republic / Dragon Age Origins / Dragon Age 2:
The combat was terrible for me in all three games but I really liked the story in two of them(guess which) and wanted to see if the third gets better.
Witcher / Witcher 2:
I really don't like the potion making , crafting and checking the weapon and armor stats and checking which weapon is best in what sitiuation. And potion making was to me like studing Chemistry again and I had to repeat a year at A Levels because of that pathetic subject(I replaced it with Computing the second time). Despite this the story and choice and consiquences were so good that ,unlike Yatzee, I had to continue(I had the same complaints as Yatzee in these two games but I knew a way to fix them).

Target Earth for the Sega Genesis. It was really cool, but ridiculously hard -- which is a shame, because it's one of the few action games from the period to have a decent story. I almost always played that one with a game genie, but then, the game was cooler for the giant (in game scale) robots and huge (in terms of actual sprite size) space ships than it was for the gameplay.

I also cheated to beat Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, because I was 12, the character dies really easily from getting hit (but he's mobile enough that a good player doesn't get hit easily), and I had yet to learn the joys of mouselook -- I was still trying to use the keyboard look controls. It later became my first online game, and I got to be a decent player after learning how to use the mouse.

Yes. Several times. In most cases it's been after having beaten it legitimately, mainly for my own amusement, but the one very notable exception is the Megaman X series...

I cheated my way through Megaman X, and X-2, and... X-3

By giving myself infinite health.

It's a testament to how difficult megaman games are, that even with permanent invulnerability, it was still difficult to finish the games.

(To be fair, invulnerability of the kind I was using still meant falling down any holes would still kill me. - Some of the most difficult portions involved near impossible jumps through sections where getting it wrong would land you in a pit.)

Mario Bros. 3 I always use that damn warp whistle.
Using the warp whistle isn't cheating because it's included as part of the game.

OT: There are several:
- NES TMNT2: The Arcade Game, used that game's version of the Konmai code to skip to the final level.
- Zelda II, used and NES emulator with Game Genie function and punched in some codes.
- Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness/Beyond the Dark Portal, I was only like 13 or 14 and didn't really have a lot of patience for RTSs at the time.
- Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, NEVER play the sequel before the original.

Edit: Oh and Oblivion. I used the Command Console to turn my character into a veritable super man. Ended up regretting it though because the game got really boring after that.

I've never beaten a RTS ligit. Off the top of my head I can remember cheating on Starcraft, Star Wars: Galatic Battlegrounds, the C&C games, LOTR Battle for Middle Earth 2.

I cheated to beat ALL the old Turok games, the Duke Nukem series, and it took me years to beat GTA 3 legit.
