Have you ever played through a game and completely missed a game play feature?

I wasn't aware you could have intercourse in any mass effect until 3, and I still don't know how, and I didn't know you could have sex in dragon age: origins until my 3rd playthrough. Boy, was that a weird surprise o_O

EDIT: I also didn't realise for like 8 hours that in dead rising 2, saving survivors makes you level up like mad. I thought they were just for achievs (which I don't really care about).

Never curved any skills in Mass Effect 2
What's "curving"? I think I've missed a gameplay feature here :S
Also, captcha is "burning oil". Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Certain Biotics and Tech skills can curve around cover if your put the crosshairs just to the side of someone. If's tricky to do the first time or two, but once you get the hang of it it's really useful.

Ah... I had no idea that could happen. Biotic charge as a vanguard worked just fine for me anyway, but that could come in handy if there's a ravager or atlas right around the corner. Thanks!

A buddy of mine once played through all of Fear without realising you could slow down time.
/facepalm
how dumb is your friend? They teach you how to use bullet time mode in the tutorials for the game.

wow a lot people need to pay more attention to tutorials and read game manuals more.
Not as stupid as you think. I'm pretty sure he played the tutorial or something, then left the game for a few weeks. By then he'd totally forgotten about it.

When I played through Mass Effect 1 the first time I didn't know how to zoom. So I just used the pistol the whole time. Knowing how to zoom would have been immensely useful especially when using the Mako.

In Jak and Daxter you can do a rolling jump by first running then, while going into the crawl animation press the jump button.

I was going mad since you need it to get to an oracle in the first village: total mind-blow.

I didn't realize that Mako had a bigger gun in it until the second playthrough of Mass Effect 1. I also had no idea about keeping the button down to drink constantly in Fallout 3. This thread is teaching me stuff.

I don't even know how many hours I have played Minecraft ( well over 1000) , but I only learned you could smelt cobblestone into stone about a month ago.

When I played through Episode 2 of Phantasy Star Online and found that the whole back story is actually REALLY depressing (instead of just rushing through like my first time playing) music is also sad as well. Now I really want them to start up the servers again so I can play with other people (I'd have to get it on PC though, I only have GC version)

When I was younger: Sonic 3, the barrel, no one I knew realized how it functioned and only got through after getting all the chaos emeralds and just power jumping through it as super sonic.

Recently: ...The Elder scrolls always do something to me so I'll join the club and say it wasn't sprinting but...something. I was suitably embarrassed later.
Terraria I didn't realize there were separate keys for torches and the grappling hook which would have made life a heck ton easier when it came to inventory management and not dying in the dark.

I was seven hours into Saint's Row 2 before I figured out that the manual reload was set to the X button.

I'd been waiting for the auto-reload before that, it was a *****.

... Really?

I have spent countless hours on those games and had no idea. Well, this is my one.
