Remember the spinning column of blades in the first God of War. I spent HOURS trying to climb up, and died every time. I turned the game off for the night after nearly snapping my controller.
I woke up the next morning, turned the game on, and climbed them all flawlessly on my first try.
Haha, that happens to me sometimes too. I think sometimes taking a break and refreshing yourself goes a long way towards how well you play. I remember I was playing the first Portal once, and after a few hours I hit a wall where I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. I went to get something to eat and came back to it after about 3 hours of just lounging around watching TV, and solved it almost immediately. I felt smart for beating the room, and stupid for not having solved it earlier, at the same time.
On topic: I got through Demon Souls a lot faster then most people I know. Not that it was an easy game and I didn't die my fair share of times, but after everyone I know who's played it built up how murderous it was, I fared at lot better than I thought I would. Also, I beat Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and only died once. But I think that only surprised me because I swear they REALLY lowered the difficulty from the Xbox 360 version to the PS3 version. I died a good couple of times playing through the 360 version on the default normal difficulty, and had zero problem with the default while playing Sigma 2. In fact, the death I suffered was only because I screwed up a jump and fell to my death.
