Gave up self denial once on a trial basis. It was so much fun I decided to give it up all together.

so last night I decided to cut down on energy drinks...for dental reasons

I've been a "1 big can a day" person for quite some time now..I think thats about 160mg worth which from what I understand is somwhere in the mid range

and I havnt had any today (instead I had one of those stupid Beroca tablets that you disolve in water that taste like piss)

Ive had this headache which has been going on since morning, and I'm really tired , and I might be somwhat irritable too...even more irritable when I think about going the whole weekend wihout, which makes me depressed

and now I'm depressed

so I guess what I'm asking is am I actually suffering from wtihdrawl here, do I consume enough for that? or is it all in my head? I remember another time I didnt get my daily fix until 1in the afternoon and I was mostly ok....has my brain just thrown a pre-emptive tantrum here?

secodn question [b/]have you ever tried to give up anything? how did you feel? were you sucessful?[/b]
It's textbook withdrawal, so I'g guessing it's not just in your head. Those are 4 of the top 5 or 6 symptoms to caffeine withdrawal. As for why it's withdrawal if you only drink one a day, it's not really how much you consume, it's with what regularity and frequency. If you drink one every single day, you're more likely to go to withdrawal than someone who drinks a case every weekend.

as for giving shit up, I've given up soda/energy drinks several times, despite my massive usage I never experience withdrawal because I don't drink caffeine every day, I just drink a lot when I do. I've given up internet(mandatory when I go home as the internet there is dial up and I don't have a dial up isp on my laptop). Same with texting, i don't get service. I do experience some withdrawal symptoms when i do that :p

I tried to give up gaming, that was the hardest minute and a half of my life.

No really though. I had a slight[footnote]By slight I of course mean at least 80% of my time online was spent there[/footnote] T.V. Tropes addiction a while back. I hardly ever go there any more.

One a day will give you Crohn's Disease, never drink energy drinks!!!!! Okay I'm done with my lil rant. I tried to give up sweets, candy, chocolate and all that. I couldn't make it more than a few weeks. I tried to give up masturbation for celibacy. I made it 35 days. I commend anyone who has been able to go longer than that.

Smoking, drinking, and compulsive eating. Apparently, I seem to be predisposed to addictive behaviors, especially during my bouts of depression. Honestly, I was never really planning on entirely giving up drinking, just learn to moderate myself and try to garner some proper self-control. I only have one or two beers/drinks per social occasion now, I have quit smoking cigarettes, and I am still working on my compulsive eating; though it's far better than it was. Calorie counting and giving my self a healthy limit for the day works wonders.

Overall, I think trying to give up/moderate those things, was a fairly good decision and I feel better.

I'm in the middle of giving up smoking, I'm ten days without so I guess that can be viewed as being successful so far. I have had started drinking more coffee than before though so I'm less of an arse hole and it seems to help with cravings for some reason.
I'd be careful with that. Caffeine can satisfy nicotine cravings, but the two aren't the same.

I knew a guy who took that path and because he started ingesting so much caffeine, his body couldn't adapt and he died.

Edit: Oh yeah, during my most recent relationship I decided to cut back on cola since it makes me burp and this was a very PDA relationship (just the way I like it) and I think the trade off eliminated the withdrawal symptoms. The relationship's done now though, and I'm back on the coke.
Thanks for the advice I'll definitely keep that in mind.

I think I was addicted to Advil(I was taking it multiple times a day to combat a damn near permanent headache). So I went cold turkey on it. My headache continued for the whole week after I stopped taking it and it became much worse.

I feel much better now. :D

Well the fact you're suffering from this says you really ought to do *something* about it. Shouldn't be such a huge issue to quit it, so if it is...

But yeah, try smaller sizes for now. Maybe try nothing again after a week?

And I am currently imagining you as that insane dog craving caffeine, ready to kill for it .__.
hahahaha

eh..were all gonna die, pick your poison

After I put on 15 kilos in high school I decided to give up candy and soda with the exception of special occasions. It's been 6 years since I broke the habit and I don't miss it at all. Also those 15 kilos were needed so I guess it was a good thing.

I also tried to give up coffee a few times. The first time I managed 4 days where I was constantly pissed and tired. I once managed to do for 9 days before my mom forced me to start again. Then I managed 10 days when my coffee machine broke and I had to send it in to get it repaired.

I too have to give up sugary drinks for dental reasons, fortunately, If I brush 2 times a day, I am mostly fine. No one will get in the way of me and my Monster energy! (I also love Vodka and Red Bull)
I'm the same...
