Have you ever tried to make a game harder for yourself?

I'm not just talking about turning the difficulty up.

I'm talking about making it much harder, such as when I played guitar hero I would put two sets of rubber bands around my fingers, just to make it harder.

Also, on Fallout 3, I turned the HUD opacity to zero and set the difficulty to very hard... I did not last long.

I tried a little experiment along with a few friends of mine, which we saw on a site. Basically, we all had Far Cry 2 and we all found it waaaaay too easy. So we set it at the normal difficulty, but we made one rule for ourselves: When we die, it's over. The only way we can play the game again is to start a new character.

Makes gunfights that much more tense.

Were you allowed to get buddy rescues? Or was it one empty health bar, it's all over?

I tried the myself, until I accidentally saved over it..., it was easier than I though it would of been though.

In CS, I just used a pistol when everyone else had assault rifles and such. If that's what you mean.

When I first played Resident Evil 4 I forgot to pick up the Thermal Scope, that made the Regenerators much more difficult and scary.

I wasted alot of Ammo and ran away most of the time.

yep, forced myself to play cult of personality on expert on GH blindfolded. I managed it as well (though barely, and after 7 attempts)

thats how i always play fallout =) (cept on normal). Urm? I played Metal Gear solid 3 only using the survival knife and no camo (apart from when im forced to use something els like an RPG)

Tried the Nuzlocke challenge once. A Hiker and his Geodude ended my run.

Tekken and Mortal Kombat without blocking. I just side stepped evrything instead.

i made resident evil four intentionally harder by not selling the art and jewels i found starting my own little private collection and i also did it on professional mode which really wasn't that hard except for QTEs

Cross your hands when playing a game, E.g. I use left hand for WASD and right for mouse usually BUT keeping keyboard and mouse in the same place,cross hands and use right for WASD and left for mouse.

It's...awkward.

star ocean second story, i bet it all using the initial party of two. Im not so stupid as to go for an all out claude run though thats just madness.

ff8, level one party vs final boss..... not the wisest idea, i made a cheat backfire......(game cd cheat thingy mabober, i forget the name now) Needless to say i won, (enabled the all items cheat)

iji, pacifist run.... bad times.... banana weapon.... good times.

now adays i dont really bother with it, to much hastle, and most game i play dont need to be any harder.

I beat fallout 3 only using grenades, my fists, and a knife while naked.

I beat Disgaea only using Laharl.

Slappers only for the whole of Goldeneye 64 and Perfect Dark 64.

Beat metal gear solid 4 using melee only, minus raven on who I used the tranq pistol.

That's All I can recall...

I only used the Sandman on TF2 for a week. (Pre-Nerf)

I deprived myself of sleep for two days, punched myself in the balls, and took cold medicine to not only quell a cold, but to try and induce some kind of a challenge out of Final Fantasy 13.

I also five-starred Seek and Destroy on Guitar Hero Metallica. Blindfolded. On Expert. With no sound.
