Yes, yesterday. Friend came over and we spent 3 hours playing various Command and Conquer games sat next to each other with him on a laptop, me on my PC. Great fun and waaaay more enjoyable then playing with strangers over the internet.

*No annoying 12 year olds with headsets
Here's why LAN was always so popular.

This, this is THE REASON to play LAN. It's so awesome to play at a LAN party, I love it. Even though you mostly play online with your "friends vs noobs" games. If the connection should fail, you always have the ability to play against each other (in a rage fight until the last one standing is the one with the last of the soda in his glass).

In school, playing WC3 LAN over multiple classrooms and classes always is a blast. "Gah, kill Arcanz. His teacher is standing behind him, he can't do anything" priceless. In class most of us are way ahead of the others, the teachers is teaching us like it's kindergarden all over. So most of the time you can pay attention a whole class and play the other one 'cause the teacher just repeats himself.

Of course! Every now and then I have a couple friends round and we play Supreme commander or Sins of a solar empire over LAN. The recent trend in the direction of the death of LAN saddens me greatly...

I always used to do LAN play!
I held LAN parties in my garage, actually! We would play Unreal Tournament, Homeworld, Neverwinter Nights...those were the good days. A bunch of my friends piling their computers onto that one huge table...sloppy joes for supper...a huge amount of pop...and lots and lots of laughing and swearing at each other (Especially during Homeworld games, where would would make and break alliances at the tip of a hat)!

I love LAN gaming.
Funny, I've had LAN parties in my garage with CS, Starcraft and UT as well! And Half-life too! Way back in the day...

I first LAN'd when I was what, 12? Still do from time to time.

All the way since Pokemon? It's not exactly a long time there.

In any case, of course I've played on LAN. How else would I play multi player before the internet? Used it to play Duke 3d, Command & Conquer, Total Annihilation, F22, Quake, Quake 2, UT99, Counter Strike, Jedi Knight, Outlaws, Freespace (I think), Diablo and lots more.

I even played Doom via parallel ports before we got proper Ethernet cards. And then coax cables, tp cables and what ever the ones we use now are called. LAN rules! Accept no substitute! Split screen console play is but a weak alternative. Also we exchanged pr0n like all hell. Do that on your silly consoles. :p At least I have never exchanged porn on my PS2 or 3, nor have I found multi player to be much fun. Automated matches my ass. Give me a list of dedicated servers and a LAN. (Right IW!?)

I have a LAN party coming up this weekend, so yes I/we still have them. Gamingwise we don't do anything we couldn't do over the internet, but it's just more fun to kill your friends when they're in the same room with you. And one particular friend even more then others because he makes funny noises when we kill him :)

are you kidding me?
LAN parties ftw!

although i started playing pc-games relatively late, so the oldest game i played via LAN was Starcraft and Diablo 2. Other games are JK II, Q3A, UT 1999, BF:V and 1942 and I dunno what else

LAN is good ^^

I used it to play with my lil bro a long time ago.
Now me and my friend use it for some fun on an RTS, we only live like 2 blocks away.

LAN Parties are the most fun you can have in a dark room with other guys ;)
I guess this really depends on your sexual orientation :p

LANs are awesome. I can think of few things which are more satisfying that wallowing in ones own filth for days on end, eating crappy food and drinking god awful amounts whilst staying up all night

Used to play over LAN all the time. We had 2 computers, so I would invite a friend over to play unreal tournament or quake 3...load the match up with bots and go on a killing spree.

I wish I had friends like this. I actually just wish I had a garage like that.

My school used to run a LAN club, we used to play UT2003 and C&C Red Alert. Also I've been to a few LAN parties over the years, we mainly play on PC's with TF2, CS:S, UT3 that kind of think but we sometimes link some 360's up and have a game of LAN Halo or anyother game we've got to hand.

The only problem is when people start bringing 22" monitors only to find that the table they have to share is tiny, that and the allocation of power outlets to each person but its all a good laugh.

This is why LAN gaming in my opinion will always be superior to online gaming

Every time we play two of my friends will always end up fighting each other even when they're on the same team, it keeps the game interesting as well as being freaking hilarious

Company of Heroes (the original, not the expansion) is a great RTS for LANs, no CD needed to play and everyone can play with the same cd key

me my cousin and his cousin played sudden strike seperated only by thin drywall once, playing LAN is an immense experience, especially with RTS's

Since doom 2 over serial cables through Emperor: Battle for Dune and Starcraft over Jedi knight 2 and Jedi academy and WC3 DOTA, NWN, titanquest and Sacred.

Very likely I have played a lot more over LAN (or now-a-days, wireless network) but can't remember what.

Yes, I have and I don't know anyone who hasn't (my parents excluded).
Lan has less lag than online play.
