Have you heard the new Silent Hill 2 voices?

For some reason, Mary sounded like a man desperately trying to sound like a woman, though oddly I didn't notice that with Maria.

Eddie's voice, though....Aaaarhghdf, he sounds so bland, like he doesn't give a damn that his sanity just took a flying leap off a ski slope.

BUT other than that they just need to add the background effects and noises and it will be good... whats everyone complaining about? I just got off the "Fanboy need to take a chill pill" thread, dont start this again!

I actually like it, but the lip synch is a bit unsettlingly off.

I don't know, James' voice sounds a lot more emotive and world-weary to me. I like that.

I admit that there's a possibility that these are an improvement and I just can't get past the fact that it's not what I'm used to. Maybe. But that doesn't change the fact that I don't like them and unless I hear/see something better, I won't be buying the HD collection. I do still have working copies of SH2 and SH3 on my PC anyway.

Also, that's a pretty serious dislike:like ratio on the video.

The trouble is, clearly we're all HUGE fans of the original games and the way they look and sound. The original voice acting wasn't great, but it's what we were used to.
At first glance it all seems wrong and terrible, but i'm still going to get it (my Silent Hill 2 is destroyed) i'm sure that given some time with it, we'll see that the new acting isn't too bad and some of us may come to prefer the new voice work.
It's the 2001 Akira re-dub all over again.

Oh, except for Eddie, he sounds really stupid...
