Left it years and years ago... it's one of those games that's excellent provided you've got a group of people to play with who are all like-minded and that - they take the game to a whole new level. Thing is, without those people, it's just a grind - a time sink. I'd rather spend my time on a game with a storyline and a real goal or ending. If i'm going to play a MMORPG, it'll be something like Rift - which always has things going on and makes hopping in and out of defend-the-realm things with a ton of people really easy.

When it comes down to it, there are just better and more enjoyable ways to waste time.

MMOs are about friends. My friends were so sick of each other after five years of EQ that our little aborted WoW guild spun utterly out of control. Rather than pick a side, I quit.

I left after my 30 days which was included when i bought Cataclysm, but that was a comeback for me since i stopped playing halfway through WoTLK.
The reasons were the same, the game had nothing more to give me. Everything was a grind fest with HC's so I got bored (plus the part with Gear score).

But I am addicted to the MMO franchise so I am currently playing Aion, which is a game I prefer to play in portions beacause of the ridiculous time it takes to level up.

I played it for many years from vanilla up until WOTLK. Eventually I just got bored of the game, unlike many I don't actually regret playing it as I had a lot of fun with the game while it lasted.

well before it was because of the gs and achievment bollocks that i quit. then i got back in for a bit with cataclysm. and now its the item level and achievment bollocks thats making me quit. that and i cant help but be creeped out when i know that most of the female characters (even one of my apparently hetero friends) are guys

I played the 14 day subscription, I liked it for the first day and then the second day I realized it's just a big time sink to me and I don't enjoy it. I am not a fan of grinding unless there is a damn good reason for it (Final Fantasy story-lines qualify as does "being the very best etc etc" at Pokemon). WoW just didn't motivate me to play it, and therefore did not motivate me to pay for it and pony up $15 a week.

I left for 2 or 3 months once because I had just run out of things to do, but I went in ventrillo to talk to my old guild-mates and one of them, payed for my subsription time, so I am back ino it again.

I played WOW for a couple of months, played till LvL 10 on all the differant classes then it became too annoying to grind, also the people on the other side followed me till we came to a contended zone and then killed me. So after a few times of that I got tired and left WOW.

I bought WoW in order to play with a friend of mine. The problem was that he was a WoW addict who didn't have a job or any other major responsibilities. As a result, he powerleveled his character to level 70 while I was still struggling to get past level 20. He decided to create an alt character to still play with me, but before long he powerleveled the alt as well. Eventually he found a guild and left me behind entirely. It didn't help that he was into PvP combat, while I preferred PvE.

Tired of paying monthly for what had turned into essentially a single player experience for me, I decided to quit. My friend's interest in the game had waned by that time anyway, so it was no huge loss.

my only interest in the game was playing with others. I picked it up in college because both my college friends and my best friend from high school were into it. i made some friends in-game too, but over time they eventually quit, and it reached a point where I had better things to do with my time and money. about a year ago, a couple other friends of mine were getting into it, so i jumped back in along with my brother, but that quickly petered out as well. At this point i have plenty of other games at my disposal which are just as rewarding, if not moreso, for free. i do miss those earlier days, however.

An MMO is defined by the people who play it.

The people fucking suck. If you're silly and try to have fun now everyone just calls you a prick and then proceed to flame you. (case in point, I was kiting in that main outlands city ((yeah its been that long)) and there was no way i'd have enough ammo to kill this thing, everyone simply whispered that they were calling a mod and told me to grow up).

Now, I admit i'm not the most mature person, but back in vanilla wow, when I kited that black dragon to stormwind (the one that regenerated its health if it hit you with a fire attack) and it stayed there for about a day before an admin despawned the damn thing, I wasn't flamed, in fact, everyone was generally laughing at it. People were making lv 1 characters and rushing it over and over to keep it alive. It was a laugh.

Nowadays? I'd get blacklisted from every high end raiding guild.

Got sick of the people and the constant grinding. Although I did go back for a little while for cataclysm, I just had to try out the worgen.

I stopped because I'm on an internship and my housing has restricted web access. Otherwise, I'd be raiding with my guild right now.

I bought it waaay back when I got off my Runescape stage.
It was fun for a bit, but then every wannabe gamer in my school started playing it.
I would've kept playing, but having 100+ Freshmen asking you at school AND ingame for money just got really annoying.

Just recently canceled my subscription. My paid time will run out in October.

There's just nothing new or interesting to do anymore. The one PvE instance I haven't completed doesn't look interesting enough to shop for another guild, audition for a current raiding slot and commit to 3-6 hours a week of raiding. I could do it, but just don't really want to.

PvP holds no appeal to me. Any desire I might have felt to get into rated battlegrounds or arenas has been solved by playing League of Legends. :/

I played WoW for a few months but after a while it just started to feel like a chore rather than a game. I dropped the game after this and i also found the constant paying to play to be a real shit kicker. Not worth the money.
