I remember once a local eatery screwed me on some fish (it wasnt cooked properly and looked wrong) and I said Id like the fish taken off my bill (I didnt even ask for anything else or much less anyhtin else for free, just remove the meal off my bill) and they said no.

so I boycotted (which in reality here means I didnt go back to eat there anymore and any time someone I hanged out with wanted to go eat there or get something to go I would go and get something somewhere else) and because my highs school made up a good chunk of their business and people somehwat supported me or at least thought it was worth while to not see me get screwed (which again here means my friends noticed and joined me cause they felt bad, then their friends joined them) the eatery offered me an apology and said I get a 15% discount off any meal I have there for life.

This all took place in the course of about six months. and while i appreciate it, I wasnt really trying to make a statement and more or less just had a problem with the way the manager handled it when I asked what I did. I would have went back if he would have been fired or left.

...

never did order the fish again.

Well, what do you mean by "succeeded"? Have I got a company to change its ways? No. Have I stuck to my boycott and not given in? Yes. I am still boycotting all Ubisoft games in protest over their bullshit DRM beginning with Assassin's Creed 2. Since then I have not purchased nor played AC2, AC Brotherhood, Driver, From Dust, or anything else Ubisoft have released and until they drop their DRM I am never going to.

i refused to buy mw2 and 3 and i still havent purchased either and i never will. i also boycott anything made by bayer, siemens and a few other companies due to human rights violations, in the case of bayer they were quite happy to manufacture gas for concentration camp gas chambers and siemens used slave labour from concentration camps, where it was quite common for someone to spend the day making siemen equipment for the german army and later in the day be gassed in a siemens gas chamber.

I say this in the nicest way possible....that is just retarded.

Them situations were how many years ago? Its unlikely that anyone from that era is even left alive, let alone in charge.

Also, German Army =/= Nazi's....sayng something like that in most places in europe is very likely to get you lynched.

All 'modern' war shooters.

I played one, once, and then took it upon myself to boycott them for their complete lack of originality.

I dont know...I mean sure if your like "eh I was kinda interested..but not now" but not if you REALLY wasnt the game

but becuase if you REALLY want it...then shitty DRM or not your going to get it (like i did)...because the alternitive isnt that great..and in the end ubisoft and the like know they can get away with it and they do..which is why Diablo 3 is going to sell like cheap mountain dew at a gaming convention

Of the few that I've attempted (and remember) I've succeeded at them all.

I havn't watched a new episode of Good Game since they sacked Bajo to make new for a prettier more female co-host.

I stopped eating McDonalds because it's McDonalds.

EDIT: BF3 and origins, both for pretty much the same reason.

Can't remember anymore but I might come back if this floats on front page.

I really wanted AC2, and I really really wanted From Dust until I heard how badly gimped the PC version was, but I still chose not to buy them and I am still not buying them.

I tried boycotting Activision after they canceled True Crime, but I broke that boycott because the series got adopted by Square Enix and because I really wanted to know the ending of the Modern Warfare series.

Also, I tried boycotting the show My Little Pony. That went awkward.

Ooooh, that's gonna piss off the French!

OT: No, there's nothing I've cared enough about to bother boycotting in the first place.

I swore that I would never again eat at Quiznos again after I saw this commercial 5 years ago and I've kept true to that.

The fact that they wanted their food to be associated with screaming vermin boggled my mind. That they assumed this garbage would appeal to me as a customer was beyond insulting, so I felt they had to be punished.

I'd like to say I'm also boycotting M. Night Shyamalan's movies since that horrific Avatar: The Last Airbender movie, but I never bothered watching his films anyways...

I haven't spent money at Chick-fil-a in 6+months, so so far so good. I was never that keen on their politics to begin with and then my girlfriend started boycotting them as part of a club activity and I decided it was a good excuse to finally cut off ties with them for good.
That is the only decision I can really call an active boycott in my life. I don't think my decision to not purchase MW3 of BF3 is really a boycott because it has more to do with me just not being interested, not because I am against their product. Also, technically Hulu, but I doubt I will ever be tempted to return to them and despite my problems, they were actually really helpful when I found out what the problem was.

Yes! I've successfully boycotted this thread!

...

Well crap. Isn't this awkward?

I "intend" to boycott Games For Windows Live. However, I have been less than successful at it, and even if I *were* successful, I would only really be hurting good developers. Ideally it would be a 'punish GFWL and publishers who use it' thing, but developers are usually the ones that don't get to eat when the game doesn't sell.

I swore off GFWL when playing Fallout 3.
Then I discovered to my horror that Red Faction:Guerilla had it (RF:G was cheap on Steam).
Then I discovered to my other horror that Batman:AA had it (B:AA was also cheap on Steam).

Then I considered trying to boycott horror, but I really like playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
So I guess I'm stuck.

I've boycotted CoD after playing games from both IW and Tryarch and seeing first hand how bad they both are at making games that are worth a damn. Hell, I didn't even buy black ops, I borrowed it from a friend for a day. and I mean one day only. I tried to force the damned thing out of my house after that one day.

So yeah, MW3 is the first game I've boycotted... but still, it's a boycott... wait... do you have to want the product for it to be a boycott? If so, then I guess it's not a boycott...

Well, never mind my ass then.

EDIT: Aha! I might be boycotting DICE after they made aim assist permanent in BF3 (on pc anyway) when you use a gamepad. Granted I'm not fully sure on whether or not I will be just yet, as when I discovered this, something akin to this video happened:
This caused the game to crash for about the twentieth time.
I have yet to go back to it. I've instead been playing the Splinter Cell HD trilogy. It's really quite fun. Then tomorrow I'll have AC:R, which will be keeping me very busy. So yeah, I'll comment on the subject of BF3's aim assist again in a few weeks.

French!!?? Brussels is in Belgium, and Asparagus comes mostly from China, but the top producer in Europe is Germany! - However, I would like to piss off the French! Darn those cheese-eating surrender monkeys! :p (As a Brit I am required by law to say that...)

Personally I have never consumed a product of Starbucks. Out of sheer principle. Based on the facts that:

-They make up italian sounding words, and expect people to use them (I hate those smug scrotum-lickers that talk about their favourite drinks or new lines from starbuck, and expect everyone to know what they mean! THEY MAKE THE WORDS UP! I don't talk to them about Tamriel, or The Patriots Conspiricy without explaining what they mean!!)

-They say they promote and support the militry, and they are more than happy to pitch up on an overseas base and flog their ware, but do they offer any kind of militry discount/support for troops...? Hell no.

-They are god-damn overpriced.

-And finally; my town used to have loads of coffee shops. All quaint privately owned, one of a kind, family run joints. We had plenty of choice and it made visiting town peasent. We then got a Boswells, small chain at the time, but didn't do much to effect the ballance as they focused on take-away's. Then, without any of the former stores going, Costa pitched up, closely followed by a Starbucks... One by one the family joints closed up leaving only a couple (ones that are attached to other establishments, ie Churches or the town hall) and the chain stores! Now everybody piles into the 2 big-shots, with there overpriced goods. I will go to Costa, as they have a lot of authentic Italien goods, and I had been to one before they came to my town, but Starbucks I have never been to. Ever. In any town...

These are all based on experience. They say know your enemy, so I have seen prices, and names of drinks, even though I have never entered a cafe. (They have them on boards outside, and advertised in the windows!)

Thanks!

I've never bought an Activision game; I liked Call of Duty 1 through 4, but when MW2 came out, Activision jacked up the price of map packs and CoD4 for it's release and no Dedi servers, I swore to never buy their stuff. Even the ones I played I never bought. Oh, and they're also (partially/technically) responsible for the breaking up of Swinging Ape Studios (technically Blizzard did it, but they're just the same big blob of Gelatin now).

Speaking of which, I've never bought a Blizzard game either, though I haven't been boycotting them, they just don't interest me.
