And if not....why the hell haven't you?

For those who don't know, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is the newest release from Capcom, available for the PS3 and the Wii. If you ever loved the Warriors series(Dynasty or Samurai), then this game is for you, since it is pretty much Samurai Warriors meets Devil May Cry in both gameplay and style.

Taken place during the Warring States period, it has many of the similar characters as seen in the Samurai Warriors games, such as Masamune Date, Yukimara Saneda, and Nobunaga, only extremely stylized to fit with mood and setting of the game. You'll fight your normal peon soldiers and samurai as in normal Warriors style games, but you'll also come across warriors such as Muneshige Tachibana, a samurai bodyguard who wields twin electric chainsaws; or Tadakatsu Honda, a cybernetic samurai with back thrusters that let him travel at high speeds, and wields a gigantic drill [sub]..that pierces the heavens...[/sub].

Let's compare the designs of each game...
Here we have Tadakatsu Honda in Samurai Warriors..

..and here is how he looks in Sengoku Basara..

Also, for the Wii version of the game, it utilizes the new MT Framework Lite(MT Framework is the engine Capcom has used for all its games, Dead Rising and onwards), to give it PS3 like graphics, and looks stunning as well as hopefully allowing more ports, such as SSF4 or MvC3 for the Wii.

So, for those have read it so far...

If you have picked up the game, what do you think of it?

For those who haven't, does it look interesting enough to try out? or just give your opinion of it from what you have seen/heard?

Not yet. It's either that or GTA4: Complete Edition competing for my cash next week. Both are $40. Both are games I know I'll enjoy. If GTA4 and the expansions aren't on one Bluray disc, I'll get Sengoku.

I don't know why there is all the hate for Dynasty Warriors type games. WHICH THIS IS A TOTAL CAPCOM RIP-OFF OF. The demo made that clear.

Sure, they're all the same since DW2. But the first few you play tend to be good, over-the-top fun. If you played a lot of them, then you can complain.

Also, Capcom does graphical wonders for the Wii.

I have Devil Kings for the PS2 and I like how the nes style cultural translations make the game funnier.

Not yet, but I played the demo, which isn't half bad,
But since I'm on a budget, it's gonna have to wait until it drops in price,
But dont get me wrong, the Warriors series is KICK-ASS,

Off Topic: Ma Chao + Taigong Wang + Kunoichi = GOD TEAM
Lol, Warriors Orochi team..I see, and yes, Kunoichi was pretty beastly, I loved having her on my team.

Ya, I don't get it either...the critics give them like 4-6s because they are all..pretty much the same...kind of. But the actual players/readers usually give each of them about 7-9s.

Though, this game is different enough in its playstyle, that its not an exact copy of the Dynasty Warriors games. The only thing I think that is a downside of it all is that there are only 16 characters to choose from, when I'm used to the 20+ characters you get in Dynasty/Samurai Warriors...though each are unique enough to make it worth while. I prefer Motochika Chosokabe and Kanbe Kuroda at the moment.

Indeed they do. The PS3 version is actually a port of the Wii version. Capcom constructed the game all in the MT Framework Lite first(which is why the Wii version looks so good), then upgraded the details a bit, and the lighting for the normal MT Framework version for the PS3.

Not yet. I'm probably going to get Samurai Warriors 3 first, but that's next on the list.

Gotta wait to have enough time to play, though. Midterms season.

Pretty much, each character has their own set of moves, that can combo either into their normal moves or arts(special moves), and almost everything can combo into each other either it be normals, arts, super arts(which you get later on), Basara Arts, and etc...its really fun once you get going, and it has co-op mode for both its Story mode and quick battles, just like the normal Dynasty/Samurai Warrors games.

Though if you want to see some well done combos in action, Magoichi Saica probably has the most flashy and fun to perform ones.

Am I seriously the only person on this site that actually picked this game up? Capcom was hyping this game up alongside Dead Rising 2, Okamiden, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at all of their press releases x-x

Nope. I played the demo and I thought it sucked. The combat isn't nearly as tight as DMC. Plus, the game didn't even allow me to invert the y-axis (seriously, how is that not an option in this day and age?) so that's an immediate "won't play" for me.

Well, I watched the anime first, had no idea it was based on a game. I thought it looked oddly like Dynasty Warriors, but maybe it was just coincidence?
THen during a commercial I saw it had a game and it all made sense.

I just finished watching the Second season recently, so I know the back stories of the purple dude and the yellow guy on a gundam.
I am soooooo getting this game. Partialy because I love dynasty warriors so much, partially because DMC made me cum with its gameplay, but mostly because I get to play as teh one Eyed Dragon and use his fucking claws.

I picked up this game (I was going to pick Dynasty Warriors 7) and it's awesome.
I liked Devil Kings, even with it's flaws and I didn't get the second one, so it was a no-brainer. The maps could be bigger like in Dynasty Warriors, but that's really my only complaint, because the crazy character designs and over the top action, put, in my opinion, Koei's series to shame.
