Having problems with download speeds

Hey guys. I just set up my new gaming computer, downloaded steam, etc. And am experiencing ridiculously slow download speeds for my games. This is not a particularly new issue, it seems to happen to my laptop as well, and I would think that is was just a slow connection due to the nature of my internet if not for that the internet is perfectly fine for everything else, streaming videos, online gaming, et cetera, but as soon as I start downloading a game, in this case TF2, it starts downloading at around 80 KB/s, which is going to take 13 hours, where if I went to say my friends house, it would take 3.

Anyways, I was wondering if any escapists could help me with this issue, or at least shed some light on it.

You've just made the same thread four times now. How slow is your computer? I'm about the same speed for downloads, which I why I always buy hard copies.

Fitsly, sincere apologies with regards to the quad post, the page was being odd and now I see the results. I'm not exactly sure what my friend is using, I just know that it's ten times faster then what I am. It may just be the nature of my internet, but that seems like a large discrepancy, and then there is also the fact that everything else seems to run fine.
