Having Time Powers

Because I just finished a playthrough of Time Shift, I thought I'd make a time travel thread, but there's a twist! ...Ok not really, just that you have the time powers from the game, minus the fun breaking AI that automatically corrects for paradoxes.

Basically you can travel at any point forwards and backwards in time, as well as have he ability to slow time down for everyone but you, freeze time for everyone but you, and reverse it. These three are only usable for short periods of time though (a few seconds in gameplay, but lets say it lasts 3 minutes).

Where would you go, and what would do with 'em?

I'd almost certainly just use it to play pranks on people (Freeze time and move their glass as their about to pour something etc...)

I'd also go back to observe things (as opposed to interfering) because I love history so much.

And because XKCD tells me its obligatory to go back and kill hitler, I'd do that too, but as I did it I'd scream YOLO just so I could have the ironic contrast of being both a hero AND an asshole XD

I'd use it just to go back 3 minutes as you say and rectify mistakes I make in conversations and stuff. I panic when having confrontational conversations so it would be good to be able to edit it until it was perfect.

I'd go back to certain points and give myself a good slap until I saw sense.

I'll just say "No!" and give no explanation.

Assuming I can't travel to different places, I'd go back in time about 50 years to see what my home town was like because it apparently used to be really nice. I love looking at old pictures so I'd be in my element.
I'd definitely love to meet my younger mum and see what she was like, she was apparently a wild bird.

Then, because I hate surprises, I'd jump forwards in time and have a peek at my kids and my husband (assuming I don't die alone in a pool of cat piss) If I seem to be having a shitty life, I'd get to work on having a better life for future me.

Depending if I can find a good hiding spot or not, I would be a thief. Now I said good hiding spot since it would be weird if you saw a person but suddently that person is in a different position (had use the time power) unless you think your eyes is acting up.

Oh thats a simple one. I'd go find out what the winning lottery numbers next week are & then come back & win big, then spend the rest of my life doing whatever I want because I'm now a rich asshole.

I'd win a 30 million or so lottery. I'd go and have a peek at my own future. I'd have a peek at the distant futures to see what the human race will become. (say, in 50 years, 100 years, 500, 1000, 2000, etc.) I'd go and have a look at the past and see what it was really like in those times. I'd bring guns and such to medieval times and become a powerful 'mage' warrior, working under a king and living like royalty myself.

As for smaller things. I'd correct mistakes I made right after I made them. I'd prevent accidents if I saw them happening and if I could. If something totally awesome happened I would rewind to see it happening again. Things like that.

First I'd go back in time to undo any bad mistakes I made/friends and family included, then go back to the times where war was everywhere and watch all of the wars unfold to see how they all happened.

Maybe also go back and do some research on them dinosaurs.

I'd use time travel to allow me to stop time in order to get tasks and activities done in order to have more time during the day.

I'd also use time travel for research and knowledge acquiring, i.e. traveling to past time periods to learn about certain events and study things that no longer exist.

Simple: I'd use my powers to find out a high-paying lottery jackpot, go to the day before the drawing and enter those exact numbers. My family and I would be set for life. Once that's established: dinosaurs.

jump forward a week, find out the winning lotto numbers, use them. Jump forward a year and obtain information on Stocks and Bonds, come back and use that future knowledge to amass a fortune and buy the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, because I like them. win incredibly high-stakes poker.

As others have stated, go forward a bit, find winning powerball numbers, win powerball. Then create a corporation that will work both to make me fantastically wealthy and powerful *by* benefiting all humanity (easily done by stealing tech from the future). Then begin a project to breed dino-soldiers from komodo dragons. Once I have the requisite dino-soldiers I will have them paratroop on to a full congressional session, and as soon as they have landed their leader will shout "Just messin' with ya!" and the dino-troops will all run down the steps of the congressional building, stop in formation long enough to do the 'walk like an Egyptian' dance, and then scatter in all directions.
Then I'd think of something fun to do.

That's basically the premise of the movie Next. Which I thought was actually a pretty good movie, on showing how scary someone could be who could backtrack time only a few minutes. By the end it was pretty neat what he was using that trick to do.

Also, I'd use it to confuse the hell out of people.

'Time Freeze' is a pretty awesome superpower when taken to its logical conclusion. You're basically able to move objects at the speed of light - instant giant thermonuclear explosion. Tap a pane of glass while time is frozen, watch it shatter into a million fragments when time restarts. Blow a little air into someone's mouth and watch their head explode. Etc, etc.

I'd probably use it to screw with people. That and fix any mistakes I might have made. You have no idea how much I could use that...
