Might wanna rephrase that because it makes it sound like Budokai 1 was missing when it's Budokai 2 that's not in the HD collection. :3Tanis said:DBZ Budokai was missing 1.
MGS4 would have definitely taken up too much space. The total size of MGS4 alone is 30 GB, so they'd of needed at least 5 or 6 discs for the 360 version of the HD collection with all the games, and at least 2 Bluray discs for the PS3 version. As for MGS1 I think that was a licensing issue more than anything, and I wouldn't be surprised at all.the hidden eagle said:MGS HD Collection did'nt have MGS 1 or MGS4,though I heard the reason for the latter being out is because it would've took up too much disc space.
Yeah, then it sounds like a licensing issue with the regions then. There are different licensing agreements that must be made with other regions and companies depending on how the game was localized at times. For example, in Europe PS Vita owners can download the Spyro the Dragon series and the Crash Bandicoot series onto their Vitas, but they cannot in the North American region because of licensing issues with Activision. Activision didn't localize the original games in Europe, that was another company. It's really just a big jumbled mess dealing with the broken and outdated copyright laws, which is why some games are caught in a limbo and can't be rereleased onto an online market place or put on HD collections. Earthbound was caught in this limbo for about a decade.Kheapathic said:I can't say for certain what the issue with MGS1 was, but there was a difference in the Japanese and North American release. The Japanese version had a code to download MGS1 from the online marketplace, while the North American one had Peacewalker. Later on the Legacy version of the collection had most of the MGS titles, but was still missing out on things like Portable Ops and the AC!D series.
When I saw it didn't have the first, I lost a lot of interest.baddude1337 said:Metal Gear HD didn't have MGS1, which was a shame. It would have been nice to get The Twin Snakes Gamecube version as it hasn't been released outside of that console, but I think Nintendo still sort of own it or something.
That is another possibility that I didn't think of. Not to mention whether the developers have the original audio files or not. If they don't then they have to rerecord the audio which is pretty hefty, and sometimes not all the voice actors are available/alive to do the roles. If they do have it, then you'll notice some inconsistencies for sure because the audio was rendered at a different hertz level probably to compensate for the old system. There could also be problems with matching the audio up correctly with new models as well. Happened in the HD version of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix in a few spots that's for sure. Then again, Square had all the audio right, but a lot of the data for the first Final Mix game were damaged, story goes there was a server fire or something, so they had to rebuild most of the game from the ground up.SaneAmongInsane said:well you can't really make an HD port of the original PS1 game (If we weren't to use Twin Snakes) because apparently bringing that audio in HD brings up background noise in the sound recording.
The Silent Hill one pissed me off a lot, as someone who has never really played a Silent Hill game, but has had a lot of desire to, the HD collection looked attractive. I know it isn't supposed to have been very good, with redone voices and ruining the fog effects, but one of the main turn offs is it missing the first game. I have trouble playing something with a "2" in it, without playing the first one, even if they aren't connected.Tanis said:So Silent Hill HD Collection was missing SH1/0.
DBZ Budokai was missing 1.
And now Red Faction 'Collection' is missing RF2.
Why do they release collections, with missing games?
Often times when said missing games are available on PSN/XBL/etc?
And The Room.Tanis said:So Silent Hill HD Collection was missing SH1/0.
