Granted, you've played quite a lot of games by now, and most likely most of them were pretty good, but have you ever really played a game, either for the first time or been playing one for a while and reached a point where things got so intense you were like "OMG, this is so awesome, I love this game! :D"

No, I don't just mean graphics purely or something as mundane as that, but simply because gameplay got chaotic but the good kind of chaotic, things probably got scarier, the plot started getting REALLY good or a boss fight just had you on the edge of your seat. That sort of stuff.

Now I can say I've played a lot of games and while I've love a majority of them, very few of them have had this impact.

But here is my list of games and the moments I enjoyed.

MGS3: Towards the end with the bike escape
Uncharted 2: With the train and a few other moments
Final Fantasy 8: During the massive wars (although its certainly not amongst the best FF games)
God of war: First time I ever played, demo battle against the hydra.

Ill add as I think of some more.

Just Cause 2: Finding a random hot air ballon in a valley. Which you can even use! And this was after I'd clocked over 100 hours on the game and thought I knew everything about it.

Portal 2: I just had to pause the game leave the room scream into a pillow punch a wall because it was just so awesome.

Kingdom Hearts 2: When you fought a huge field of enemies. I fully beleived that there would be a cut scene to watch but i actually got to fight all the monsters.

Fallout 3: The realization that I went from running away from well equipped raiders to being easily the single most powerful entity in the wasteland. Forgot to add that I recently went back to the game after playing new vegas and honestly i had done and found everything possible in that game and guess what I find? A suit of T-51b Power Armour beneath Fort Bannister. That one discovery made me play the game for another twenty hours.

Super Smash Bros Melee: It was just so cool seeing all those characters together. I played that game for over a month until I got a little bored.

WarRock: It's a Korean made FPS game like battlefield but it was the first time I experienced battles on huge maps with vehicles though guns were expensive and you could only rent them and you didn't get very much money per match...and the default sniper took two shots to kill but I did get consistent headshots so I can't complain.

Grand Theft Auto:San Andreus: I really thought I was the first to come up with the term "sand box game" With my cheat codes in one hand and my controller balanced on my knee I really messed up the lives of the residents of...I guess Nevada? Whatever the entire state is called.

Half Life 2: About 1/4 of my way through the game I realized shooters were more then just killing people, they could be puzzles and well you've played half life you know.

There's more but I can't think of them.

When I managed to defeat the hallway full of thugs at the end of Batman: Arkham Asylum in one massive flawless combo. That made me really feel like I WAS truly playing Batman.

Every once in a while, there's a rare magic moment in game when soundtrack, game play, and story align in sync and make for a moment of unforgettable immersion. Running through gunfire on Virmire to this track was one of those rare moments for me.

Shall just leave those here and move on.

The moment you meet Trishka in Bulletstorm.

Oh, and using the hunting rifle with the improved firing sound mod on a super mutant and watching it's head explode.

That was possibly my favorite sequence in Mass Effect. To honour it I chose that music to play in Shepard's Cabin in ME2.

OT: The final Warthog runs in Halo CE and 3 were pretty epic, especially on Legendary.

The mission "ACES" in Ace Combat 5, where you fly your jet down a narrow tunnel, fire missiles at the target at the middle of the complex, then blast out of the end of the tunnel at mach 2.

while getting shot at.

When I single handedly killed all of the factions in Fallout New Vegas, just TOO COOL!
OR when I played Portal 2 for the first time.

Every Halo game has this moment for me somewhere.

CE it was first encountering the flood. 2 it was about half the game since it was my favorite campaign. 3 it was the takedown of the two scarabs and run to the control center of the Ark with Marty's "One final Effort" track playing the whole time. Reach it was the holdout at Halsey's lab with explosions and enemies coming from everywhere.

Halo CE last level was truly heart poundingly awesome :D

Especially since during that time I had never played a game that awesome, the entire package was superb, but the ending just put the icing on a delicious pound strawberry jam filled sponge cake ^^

Didn't think the sequels much lived up to the benchmark the first one set for me.
