So I was just playing Uncharted 2 online and go into a coop objective round. So I'm in the lobby waiting for start-up and my two partners, FirstChief and SnakeKilller, for the session start chatting on their mic.

(Voice of a six year old) "Niko! Let's pick village, Niko! Village! Yayyyy!"
(Voice of another six year old) "Okay."

So I start thinking to myself: "Fucking great. This is going to be painful." and begin to curse Naughty Dog for their 40,000 quit penalty.

So we go through a round and I realize that not only was I not having to babysit them, they matched my score. And I wasn't slouching either. These two were just holding down this building with no trouble.

And it was adorable! He'd be like, "You stay here Niko. I'll go get ammo. Stay here okay Niko?" "Okay."

Apparently one was using a FAL and the other was using an AK so the ammo runner would pick up a FAL, scrounge for ammo, and switch back for the AK so the partner could pick it up. Wrap your head around that. You'd be lucky to get adults to cooperate let alone coordinate on that level. Why just last night there was some guy who refused to revive me and the other teammate because we weren't on his platform. A goddamn hop away and he couldn't be bothered with it.

So second round comes about and I'm half observing, half defending them. FirstChief gets downed on his ammo run and I jump in headshoting the three mooks surrounding him before healing him.

He runs off without a word and I'm thinking, "Psh. You're welcome."

So while all this was going on the other kid was downed and FirstChief comes running in and revives SnakeKilller (Who is Niko by the way) and just breathlessly yammers on, "Niko! Niko! The girl! Elena! She saved me and I saved you!" "What?" "The girl! She saved me! And I saved you!" "Okay."

Afterwards there was a connection error and I was sincerely sad to see them go.

tl;dr Okay. So we know online gaming is a cutthroat bully for you chilly for me shithole world. But does anybody have a good story of selflessness or general heartwarming?

I personally find kids act a lot better than given credit, when they play online.

I am sooner to believe that there's a bunch of asshoels pretending to be kids to get away with stuff or try to play innocent or dumb, than actual kids beingthat obnoxious when it comes to a game that's about teamwork.

Meh, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. =P

No, never. I have never seen that sort of warmth and kindness on XBL. In any game. Ever.

i was on l4d the other day and as im sure most of you know when you get knocked down near the safe house theirs a pretty big incentive to leave you

i was knocked down by a horde a mere stones throw away from the safe room and was being kicked to death while the others went and hid....about 5 seconds later some guy came running out machine gun blazing telling me he had a cahnge of heart and had come to save me...... most things on L4D are heartwarming

in my oppinion its the least cuthroat online game ive seen

Um, one time when I picked up the sniper rifle in Halo 3 I wasn't shot in the back and insulted by my teammates, but rather told to jump in a Mongoose so I could be taken to a good sniping spot. Which I was. It was kind of nice, actually.

Heartwarming is perhaps too strong a word to describe some of the general friendliness I've encountered on Xbox Live. But yeah, there have been some times when there was a real friendly vibe whilst playing. Rare, but worth looking for.

Best I can think of right now are the number of thank you's on TF2 for airblast extinguishing teammates and spy stoppage.

If anything XBL is the polar opposite, they'll insult you for no reason just because you're on the other team I really hate those douschebags on Halo who plug in their mikes and start cussing out the other team to show how "hardcore" they are saddest part of all, most sound like grown men and not children.

OT: My friend played Nazi Zombies with a group that included a 13-year-old with a high-pitched voice and he cussed him out for it yet the kid still revived him whenever he was down and they made it to Round 22 even though eventually it was pretty much one guy standing in a ditch with all four perks and the lighting and ray gun while the other three just kept dying at the start of the rounds.

I have yet to witness a heartwarming moment on Modern Warfare 2.
"Dude, you fucking n00bfag get a kill your bringing us all down!!! Oh my Goood!! Dude you suck!!! Come the fuck on!! Mom!!! This guy on my team can't get a kill!!"

They should totally print that on a hallmark card

Yes, a group of 4 or 5 American guys invited me to party up in MW2 because I was chatting with them in game.

They didn't even mind that I wasn't playing well, they just enjoyed co-operating.

It was cool.

Not exactly. I do try to respect my enemies though (I salute everyone I kill in Metal Gear Online, unless I'm getting shot at.)
