I love the Joker in all forms, however this one is just perfect, everything the joker should be. Like a dog chasing cars.

However the 2face story seemed an utter waste of a decent character, they should have left it stewing for the sequal.

This Film was better than Beginnings and for me its on par with the first 2 films, the down side is its drenched in a bit to much realism and the batmoblie looks like a tank and not a sleek and futuristic car...at least its not a ribbed condom... but still......the tankmobile is just not right....

I agree. I really didn't think that Nicholson's joker could be topped, but the new one is exactly what I never realized I wanted the Joker to be - completely batshit insane, attracting the equaly insane to him, using them as cannon fodder and basically just making shit up as he goes along. I love how he constantly explains himself and his actions without really telling you anything that makes any sense. I also liked that he has no identity and simply becomes an incarnation of madness. Which he then pours straight into Dent's brain, turning him into the bad guy. Brilliant.

It was a great performance. To me his best performance was in Brokeback Mountain where he played a royal asshole, but in this one he really outdid himself IMO. It was interesting to see the joker as an icon and not as a person at all. He wasn't just this insane clown, he was the personification of Kefka on film, and that is always good.

When Ledger died, I honestly didn't mind much. You see, I obviously didn't know the guy, but when I saw The Dark Knight I was a bit bummed: No more joker. What more can a performer ask but for his work to be recognized?

I wholeheartedly agree with this, every scene without the joker just seemed lacking, and whether or not he could have made the scene better, you still wanted him in the scene. I thought it was one of the most engrossing character portrayals I have seen in a movie in a very long time.

Anyhoo, IMHO the Tumbler was the best Batmobile to date. The first (Keaton) movie batmobile was closer to the comic, yes, but unrealistic. It was so low to the ground, so long, with the front wheels so far back, that while it may be able to bullet-proof itself and whip around a corner by means of rope-swinging, a simple pothole or speedbump would stop it. Likewise all the Bat-Vehicles from then on got more and more unrealistic.

Now the Tumbler is a workable concept, believable and functional. He didn't design it, he borrowed it. And all he "Batman'd" about it was a repaint. Up until the bullshit-cycle popping out, the Tumbler was the best Batmobile to date.

The Tumbler's cool, but the Batmobile from The Dark Knight Returns is far superior. Namely because it is the Tumbler, only much more hardcore. Machine guns, tank treads, armour plating... everything a mentally unhinged vigilante needs to wage his war on crime.

But I am dissing it, there is no need to boil every lil thing in hard realism this kills the fiction and makes it antiseptic...

ya there's a balance in the way fiction and realism should be handled to much and it becomes bland.
