I totally agree, but moreover, earplugs are not just practical for when you're sleeping. Second thing, try to carry as little as possible during the performances. Especially wallets and cellphones are typical targets for pickpockets. And if you have really bad luck, they could even fall out of your pocket during a moshpit or whatever. Almost impossible to find.
A good tip is to wear one of those small bags across your neck, or to take only money with you in your pockets.
And don't forget to drink a lot! It's not on rare occasion that people faint during concerts because they didn't drink enough...
