Hey, I was thinking of buying Heavy Rain so i'm wondering what other people think of it and maybe the views of some people who already own the game?

I only played the first 4 hours or so and though it was incredible. I'll play more when I get back to my PS3. Rent it, I'd say. I did and loved it, but there's always the possibility that it isn't your cup of tea. It's a slow game.

I'll probably buy it later once the price drops.

Well, I greatly enjoyed it myself. I was constantly going through a wide range of emotions, gripped by fear, anxiety and sorrow.

If you're looking for exciting, innovative gameplay, then this isn't for you.

If you're looking for an immersive story, then go for it.

It all depends on whether or not you like Quick Time Events because this game is riddled with them they may be implemented well however there is alot of them

It's a great game. The only real downside is that it does start out rather slow. But aside from that, I love it. Probably the most immersive game I've ever played.

I'd say the only other problem is that once you find out that the killer is. . . Nah i'm not going to spoil it. (Some asshat on gamefaqs already did that for a few)

But as said in a ZP review, the killer is the same in each playthrough which is a shame since it could have been implemented differently so that each playthrough had different possibilities.

I fucking loved it. It is brilliant and I'm glad I bought it. Probably one of my favourite games on the PS3. Hell I have family who hate Video Games with passion yet loved Heavy Rain. They thought it was brilliant and they weren't even playing it. So yes I think you should get it since it is great.

Amazing game but I can see how people wouldn't like it, so you should probably rent it.
Also it's best to go about the game with an attitude for each character so its even more fun.
For me, all my characters were....baddd >:D

I REALLY like it!

The game is pure story, and story delivery. Lemme just say that. How you play the game depends on the story delivery. Doing one thing has an effect on how the game turns out, and doing it differently has a new effect. One Spoiler-Free thing; I let Shaun stay up late to watch TV in my first play through. The next day, he told me his teacher scolded him for being late. My next play through, I didn't sit down with him to do his homework. Now his teacher scolded him for not doing his homework! Little things change different outcomes through the game.

The very start of the game is pure tutorial. You'll want to be masterful at it by the time the game gets really moving. It's got a ton of surprises for you, and really keeps you on your toes. More than a few times I was gripping the edge of my seat playing this game.

Heavy Rain is a pure delight. It's play-style choice emphasizes it's focus on story. It's more than QTE's "push X to not die," but emulates the motions of the characters. You'll see. :)

My one gripe is that the Origami Killer is always the same person. When I was playing, I got the impression that the culprit would change depending on how I played the game. I was wrong. So it's less surprising (by a mile) in your second and so on play throughs.

I'm glad I bought the game. If you like emphasis on story, then you will too. :)

This sums up the entire experience. When I got to the end I almost started to cry because I was so saddened about one of the characters ending.

Sorry for jacking your thread OP, but I think it's better than just starting a new heavy rain discussion..

Did anyone else think it was complete bullshit? Some of Shelby's thoughts throughout the game don't fit that of a killers, and neither do a lot of his actions. Also, there's no break in control that I saw for the event where the guy gets killed in the other room, it's just a cheap trick to throw you off of his case. Maybe the game would've been too obvious, but it just spoils the whole thing for me. And also, why does Ethan keep waking up with Origami in his hands? It's never mentioned at all as being a skill of his, or his sons. Just another cheap ploy to throw off suspicion. Liked the game a lot, just that part really killed a lot of the joy for me.

I don't own a PS3, I own the game. My cousin, however, does own a PS3 and I begged him to let me borrow it for a weekend. The game is a bit slow to start, but it really sucked me into it, I played the entire thing in one sitting, no breaks or anything. It's a very, very good game. Unfortunately, it doesn't have much replay value, not for me anyway. Now I know who the Origami Killer is, the mystery was a big part of the game for me, it'll be difficult to really get into the game again.

Why not just download the free demo, then it only takes up hard drive space.

Better than going out to rent it only not to like it and waste your cash.

I think it's a marmite game, you either love it or you hate it.

Personally, I hate it.

I know "your never the only one" but am I the only one who doesn't like this game?

Shelbys thoughts are concerned with what could get him caught, and he's out there to make sure he doesn't by collecting whatever evidence he's left behind by being a private eye. At least that's how I see it. It's Lauren that gets things confused by being there to actually solve a murder. So when looking at the scene, you the player are actually thinking this pair is on the site to collect clues to solve a murder.

The part with Shelby kills the clock guy... I was thrown too. But wasn't there a close up of Lauren for like a solid minute (exaggeration) when the clocks were going off? Our eyes weren't on Shelby right then. Coulda been then. :)

And about the Origami in Ethans hands. The black outs were touched on by his psychiatrist, in that people that experience extremely traumatic events suffer some way. Of course, he explained it as a possibility for multiple personalities or schizophrenia. As for the Origami itself? Just a red herring. Not meant to be explained so much as to throw the player off of the case by drawing to much focus on it. :)
