I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned already, but Jacob's Ladder is a pretty powerful film with an interesting twist on Hell. At the risk of spoiling things, Hell is something we make for ourselves with our inability to let go when the time comes.

Jacob's Ladder also came to inspire some of the visual cues that would later become integral to the Silent Hill series. Spooky nurses, faceless people, half-seen freaky shit, etc.

I'm literally watching Constantine right now.

Television and film is often more willing to show the Devil and hell than they are God and Heaven.

D&D's Nine Hells of Baator, ruled by the Archdevil Asmodeus and his 8 Archdukes of Hell, is the best self-contained depiction of Hell anywhere. It incorporates pretty much every version of Hell from every culture.

In conjunction with Baator's rival, the Infinite Layers of the Abyss, ruled by the Demon Lords Demogorgon, Orcus, and Graz'zt (and all the lesser Demon Lords), The Hells of Baator and The Abyss cover even closer to every version of "Hell" imaginable.

And when you expand your scope to include ALL of the neighboring D&D "underworlds", AKA the Lower Planes and the Far Realm, you genuinely have EVERY version of "Hell" covered, except MAYBE a couple sci-fi ones, like Futurama's Robot Hell.

But that hasn't really been put to film yet.

My answer: The Devil's Carnival. Hell is a carnival run by Lucifer and 666 is actually six hundred sixty-six rules that the carnival runs on. Here, sinners relive what got them there over and over again. Plus Graverobber is Lucifer, you can't top that:
