This week, the Dalai Lama visited our humble town of Memphis. He was greeted by the mayor of the county and the mayor of the city, who greeted him with a fist bump and said "Hello Dalai". I thought it was kind of silly, but the Dalai Lama seemed to have a good sense of humor and enjoyed it. I myself would probably just greet him with a handshake and a pat on the back cause I'd forget to do anything else when the time came.

So if you were to meet him, how would you greet the Dalai Lama?

Do a dynamic entry kill on the guy NEXT to him and say "'sup."

Link for reference.

Fellow Memphian here. Crazy, huh? I thought this forum was mostly non-Americans.

He looked pretty confused at the fist bump and I'm sure he heard that lame-ass "Hello Dalai" joke 1,000 times when he was here. Things could have gone better IMO.

I dunno, he seemed to think the fist bump was kinda cool. I agree though, "Hello Dalai" was pretty lame, but I really wouldn't expect anything less from Memphis. I'm just glad Herenton wasn't the one there to greet him.

I did meet him, he came to give a speach at my University about 3 years ago. Um i said hello, surprisingly it worked.
That's pretty cool.

I would probably shake his hand and say "nice to meet you."

I would ask him why he thinks he should get his slaves back. (See Penn & Teller: Bullshit episode about "Holier Than Thou")

He did a little uppercut at the end. Look it up on youtube, it's pretty funny.

Memphis politicians are all insane. This year we had a mayoral election between a pro wrestler, a boxer, some random gangsters and schizos, and a (self professed) alien.

Should've gone before we left.

I'd rub his head for good luck.

Seriously though, nothing but respect for the guy. To bad he's getting so old that China is just waiting for him to die.

i'd shake his hand

tho he does have a good sense of humour and also a rather smart and insightful person. i still marvel that when someone asked him "if we could prove 100% that reincarnation didn't happen, what would you do" and his reply was "i'd go teach everyone we were wrong and have to find a new way of seeing things"

Seriously. It's like something out of "The Simpsons". If there is a real life Springfield, it's Memphis.
