I originally read this as Hellboy Fighting Game and was about to proclaim full support because a Hellboy Fighting Game would be awesome.

As for Hellsing, from what little I know about it, there are some interesting characters with interesting fight styles (I'd totally play as Walter) so one could presumably work.

I think it'd have to be done more as a 2D fighter like those from ArcSys of course, but yeah, I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hell yes (see what I did there?), considering the nature of the manga. Wouldn't the character roster be kinda small though? I'd probably see Fullmetal Alchemist as a better candidate.

(looks up on google)

Okay, they did that already.

Considering the action in the series I would think a Hellsing Spectacle Fighter/Character Action Game (whatever you like to call it) would be a better fit, since there is a lot of fighting a hoard and the named villains would take the role as bosses.

What for? Fighting games come with the least amount of content possible, well maybe a Hellsing carting game could do worse.
If they do anything I want to see action adventure in style of Darksiders, and I want to be playing Alucard with all the messed up shit he can do.

What is that one fighting game called where people can design their own characters? I'd be surprised if there weren't already pretty good Hellsing characters to download. Of course some of them are ridiculous or badly done but there should be a database with rankings for the characters.
Played it once at a friend's and you could do stuff like Peter Griffin vs. Chuck Norris.

That would be Mugen.

Yes, but some complaints I've seen for other fighting game series is that, as their roster have gotten bigger, each characters' play styles have become less individualised (e.g. DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3). I mean, the original Street Fighter II had eight characters, and even aside from how groundbreaking it was at the time, it's stil held up as one of the best fighting games.

For playable characters, there'd probably be - at the very least - Alucard, Ceres, Integra, Walter (young and old; can count as two, if you like), Anderson, Heinkel, Yumie, the Captain, Rip van Winkle, Zorin, Alhambra, and Luke Valentine. That's at least 11; enough to play with.

Jan and Integra could probably help out with Luke and Alucard's specials/finishers as well. Might make pretty good unlockable characters as well.

I think a spectacle fighter as Alucard might be a better fit though, though you'd really have to work in the control art restriction levels in a very noticeably game-y way. Since by the end of the story when his restrictions are fully relieved he's nigh on to a God. Hmm, maybe you could take over Seras or Integra at that point in the story.

or as anderson and fight alucard as a boss (throught i would imagine animating alucard in released form would be huge ammount of work that could still end up as bad animation) still i doubt we will see anything like this mainly because most animes/mangas start usualy producing games related to series while story is still going on and with hellsing main story is aready finished and hellsing never got the huge popularity that naruto/one piece/dragon ball etc got to rly get game developpers interested in series.

Wouldnt be against it but to be honest there would be many other IPs I would rather see instead. I would like to see something like J stars but in a 2D style done by Arc personally or just any mash up anime style game Alucard could be a character in it but just having a fighting game on the hellsing license alone would probably not be commercially feasible thats why outside of a few very big name anime titles most feature a mash up of characters to increase its popularity like with Dengeki Bunko Climax or Aquapazza being 2 recent examples.

UniB could use Alucard as a guest since they borrow chars from various other series. Hellsing has too few chars to make a fighter by itself though.

With that roster, you'd probably need to nerf Alucard, or use him as the game's penultimate boss, since he's so high above the others that it's the only way to do him justice. XD

It could work if you used the more gun-heavy characters as zoners, you'd probably need to nerf The Captain's speed and make him a heavy type, with Yumi and Anderson as marios (jack-of-all-stats types) and Luke and Alhambra as fragile speedsters.

Yeah... the more I think of it, the more it could work.

Well, he has different "levels" (though I'd prefer "seals") for some of which he seems to require authorization to access them. So he could be both a normal character or a boss on steroids.

You couldn't make a Hellsing game and not have Alucard as a playable character. People would go bonkers.
Also, and I may be wrong because I haven't read the whole thing, I think many of the characters emphasis is on gunplay (Alucard, Seras, Rip van Winkle at least). I think Prime Hunter hit it on the nose when he said the series would translate best into a spectacle fighter, a la Bayonetta. You could have 3 different paths where you played as Alucard, Seras, and Alexander or something like that.

Yeeeeah the problem would be that you'd have to make Alucard as the main boss that you can't play as unless you punch in a cheat code. Why? Because Alucard always wins. It's that simple. He always comes out on top, even surviving a brush with utter non-existence when he...

Well I won't give away any spoilers. :p

Suffice to say that Alucard is more Batman and Batman. For crying out loud, he's got an endless army of the undead living inside of him. There's literally no way that he can be defeated unless he's going all out with all of his strength and unleashes the power of every soul in his arsenal...and even THEN he still wins. =P

So yeah, make it a tournament to see who can finally end Alucard's existence but leave Alucard as the main boss that you can't play as.

The problem is - as has been mentioned in posts before me - no one would want to play a Hellsing game if you can't play as Alucard.

Soooo yeah, I guess make an action-RPG out of it if you want to make a Hellsing game.

Nah. I do favor the spectacle fighter idea though. Before Kratos was the human smoothie maker, Alucard was the vampire and occasionally human smoothie maker.

Some contrasting(you're less ridiculously overpowered) sections playing as Seras(or Victoria, depending on how you see it, well, Integra's name was never backwards) would be quite fun I think. Let's face it, our red pimp hatted vampire king is a bit OP even in the source material for the vast majority of the story.

If there's anything Skullgirls taught me, it's that a tight roster of fighters that play vastly differently can work. They have only 14 characters(one's a clone and doesn't count), and I'm sure I can dredge up nearly that many for this fighter.

Alucard
Seras
Walter
Anderson
Heinkel
Yumie
Rip Van Winkle
Schrodinger(admittedly going to be fun to invent his fighting style since he doesn't actually fight)
The Captain
Zorin
The Dandy Man
The Valentine Bros

Bang, 13.

A spectacle fighter would work very well I think. Even with Alucard as a character. Maybe even the main character.

(spoilers about Hellsing's story.)
At the end of the manga Alucard is left with only his own soul. He can basically die like normal again, even if he's still a lot harder to kill than humans. And he doesn't have all of his armies inside of him any more either. He killed all of them.

So I think Alucard would be on pretty equal footing with the rest after those events. Heck, you could maybe even make a game around that. Alucard being weak, having to regain new familiars, and a new threat against London happens or something. Easy way to put in a level up/upgrade system of some kind. And you could then maybe unlock other characters like Ceras and Anderson to play with. Something like...Play Alucard, returning to demi-godhood as he goes through the game. Then at certain points you can unlock other characters. And then you can play with those characters through the same overarching story, but with different things happening to them.

Anyway, yea...big fan of the manga/OVA. I would love a spectacle fighter or even an action adventure with horror mixed in based on those two. But I doubt it will ever happen. =/
