Ok what's up scrubs!?
I'm in a bit of a bind here.
After recently downloading and installing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, I discovered to my dismay that for some strange reason the game doesn't start up properly.

For instance:

I get the menu only instead of the background, I'm only left with a Black Screen in the back.
After the following loading screen, everything goes black. I can still access the menu and even move the character, but all I get is sound and just a black screen.

[HEADING=2]Can anyone PLEASE help me with this issue or be able to find the root of the problem!?![/HEADING]

I would appreciate it very much

I assume you got it off Steam. Usually the forums manage to fix my problems.
Also, if you have to start a thread on the Steam forums then make sure you include your hardware and Operating System information. Editing this post to include that wouldn't hurt either.

Go to the website of the company that makes the card(if you dont know what card you have control panel>device manager>display adapters
there will be a driver update section download the one that maches your card and install(screen will most likely flash and change sizes)

after that hope your game works

Also add operating system (Windows 7 or Vista?) and graphics card information. It's usually the graphics card.

Intel graphics cards are temperamental with Indie games Amnesia especially tends to be buggy.
They may have fixed it(as this was a problem from a wile ago, so i may be worrying you for no reason.

if this dose not work there may be a fan made patch/mod for the game that might help you or the outer forms may have something but that's about as much as I can help you.

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx this may help in the future

DAMMIT Even now it's not working.
Do you think another Graphics card will work?

Or should I take it to Geek Squad or something?

I don't think geek squad can help as its not exactly a problem they deal with.

you cant exactly get another graphics card on a notebook as there integrated and even so there is not exactly space(often even lacking the slot for it)

Honestly your best bet is to look around a bit on the sites forms there is most likely a patch/mod or a cracked/pirated version(seeing you own the game its not piracy at this point) that works with Intel cards.

WHOOO I got it to work!!!
What I ended up doing was uninstalling my Previous Graphics Card and reinstalled the latest update overriding the invalidity whenever I got to the Intel Download center.

The game runs like a charm and I'm loving it.

Thanks alot to everyone for the help

running it on 640x480 on Medium settings.
It catches a bit of lag, especially around larger areas like at the beginning with the piano

I know. I catch so much bullshit while playing the game.
The moment I start it up the mouse freezes and I can't move it until I log off and log back on.

To make matters even worse I got all the way up until he had the flash back before the game crapped out on me
