Try FF:XII, its definitely a good one (it's much more open ended then the rest of the franchise). Also if you liked FF:X, then X-2 is a must-try, (don't mind what they say about this game, but it has one hell of a soundtrack!).

If you want a challenge, get dark souls/ demon souls (get console version always, the pc port is horribly done).

Stop reading these right now, and go download Chrono Trigger from the PSN. After that, go find FF IV, then look for the LUNAR Complete games(Silver Star Story and Eternal Blue).

DO NOT play FF VIII. It's terrible. A ridiculous storyline even by FF standards, the blandest, most forgettable characters in existance, really boring combat, and the weirdest magic system I've ever seen.

First of all, congratulations!

Second, I was going to yell PERSONA 4 PERSONA 4 PLAY PERSONA 4!!! buuuuut I guess the fact that you didn't like P3 doesn't really help.

I can completely understand where you're coming from with the time management thing between the three grinding stats. Now, know that maxing all social links on the first playthrough is next to impossible (actually I think it is impossible), and though I haven't played Persona 3, in P4 social links aren't that important.

In the long run it is certainly convenient to be able to fuse a persona and get a 5 level EXP boost because it happens to be of an arcana that you have a decent social link in, but it is by no means necessary. I'd say stick to your team members' Social links and you'll be fine (In P4 at least, dunno about 3).

Seriously, give it a whirl :D It's a blast!

Fingers crossed for some Persona 5 details coming E3 >.<

Star ocean 4 , is a good game to play especially the ps3 version .

How about Dragon's Dogma? It has that Japanese feel to it which you seem to like, but with the more western style of combat. There isn't really much grinding needed to beat the game(but you can grind if you want I suppose). The combat itself can be really neat because you can latch onto enemies climbing them and attack that way making for some really cool both battles. It also has one of the neatest endings in video games that I've played recently. All in all, it is a really fantastic RPG and it does come on the PS3.

And as many have said Mass Effect is a terrific Action/RPG that everyone needs to try and play at least once.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. snip!
I agree with this but you may not need to patch it as I had several computers run it fine without any patches. Never the less love the game. Patching is probably the safe choice though.

From your main list I would choose KOTOR I and II.

Dark Cloud & Dark Cloud 2. They're the same company that made Rogue Galaxy. [PS2]

It's old, but Final Fantasy Tactics. Hard to get into at first because of lack of options. Gets harder and harder to put down the further you get into the game. [PS1]

Final Fantasy 4 [SNES]
