My 10 yo neighbour asked me for some games he could play. Now I have a lot of games, but nothing he could actually manage playing. He hasn't played much of anything except racing games, but he's starting to get interested in other genres.

One of the main problems is, that he can't speak english, except a few words like new, exit, save(go figure)... So any game I give him, shouldn't be to story focused. Also it can't be too bloody/violent/sexual or his mom won't let him play.
Simple controls are preferred, because he's still kind of clumsy with a mouse and keyboard. Oh yeah, that reminds me, games should be on the PC. And he loves shiny graphics lol.
I did give him Trine, and he loved it.

So any recommendations would be great.

For the love of all that you hold holy, please do not be one of those people that lets him play a first person shooter online like Halo or Call of duty.

Other than that I would recommend some puzzle or platforming games, if you look on Steam then you may be able to find some good ones there, they are usaully not too violent and are capable of being played by a child or someone who is new to gaming.

The Klonoa is kid friendly, and it's a nice little platformer/puzzle to boot.

So what language does he read?
I mean a lot of games have non-english versions, you know.

The first thing that popped into my head was skylanders, but that's a terrible idea.
Those games are money leeches.

Anything from the Pokemon main series. Absolutely no swearing or blood/gore, all the violence is very cushioned. Turn based combat system offers limitless patience for those less practiced with controls. Also I've never heard of a 10 year old kid that didn't enjoy playing Pokemon so its a pretty safe bet that he will like it. I know you said it should be on PC but Pokemon is just so perfect, and there are ways to play Pokemon games on a PC.

Also Plants vs Zombies is fantastic.

I doubt there are many, if any, in slovenian.

I have already thought of some of these, except for Bastion(how could I forget such a thing)
As for Plants vs Zombies, he didn't like it when I showed him.
Maybe he could get into Pokemon, I'll suggest again. But when I asked him, he'd never heard of them O.O

The main problem, is that the objectives should be fairly intuitive to find, since he can't really read what he is supposed to do. And his parents aren't much help either, since they have a limited knowledge of english.

Maybe I should just get him an old Mario game on an emulator, and tell him to ignore the older looking graphics.

I'm just going to list some without providing much explanation outside of the genre, forgive me.

Sonic generations: Platformer
Pineapple smash crew: Arcade (indie)
Rock of ages: Platformer/racing (indie)
Sanctum: Tower defence (indie)
Jamestown: Shootem'up (indie)
Hard reset: First person shooter (indie)

Hard reset deals with shooting robots so I'm not overly wary of recommending it for children.

Dead Space.
Perfect game for a kid.
And since he liked trine you should definatly not give him Trine 2, it would not be appropeiate for someone his age anyways.

um...minecraft anyone?
seriously, most of the stuff in there are pretty straightforward, there's nearly zero language involved and what is involved is simple nouns, the violence is (fittingly) childishly cartoonish and the main aim is to build stuff using nothing but your imagination. i suppose it's the old "kid bored? give 'em lego" solution brought to the video gaming world (note that i haven't played it in quite a while and i have no idea what minecraft has evolved into but i wager the mechanics are fairly the same).
in that sense i suppose i should offer terraria, it might be more violent (i think you can disable the blood) and more complex but it sure is prettier.
also, if he likes racing games you should have him try nitronic rush, it's super fun and simple and pretty and totally free.
if i were you i would look around for indies and free games, those have a much lower budget than AAA and very little of it goes to dialogue and story (yes there are exceptions, but there also not exceptions)

Tell him to play the game "Suck the lolli-" NONONONONONONONONO.

I have terribly inappropriate taste in humour at the moment. -.-

In any case, all the games I could think of have been mentioned. Not sure why I'm still here...

Terraria perhaps. It has some English in tooltips, mostly item stats and such. But he might be able to pick up on that and learn some English along the way.

For stuff with little language requirements, I'd say go for a good old arcade collection. Things like Dig Dug, Pac Man, and Galaga are all great fun with almost no language.

Also, EVERY KIRBY GAME EVER MADE EVER.
