Anything from Daft Punk is always golden in my books. Check out the album Discovery and If you like that then definitely listen to the rest of their stuff.

Also The Hives are an awesome band if you think you might like a bit more punk in your life (not super heavy punk but just enough).

Well, my taste seems pretty different to most people here, so I'll throw some things in for variety.

Melora Creager [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o_AnVUQQP4]

Nakatomi (I only know this one song, but it's a good one) [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O64vSP-Zj6U]

Joanna Newsom [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcHjAUhtSrk]

Kristeen Young [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO_-wN3xF58]

The Divine Comedy [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3NVPOedkEk]

I'd ask what kind of genres you'd like, but then I couldn't just put down whatever I want.

Which is off their newest album. The older stuff is more accessible, but you need to get into proggy music now. *pokes with stick*

Go on then!

Just don't listen to music, and don't label things. "Screamo" pisses me off. There are a lot of truly talented musicians in the metal genre and this new wave of teenage boys in spandex is ruining it for everyone.

I'm so glad I don't know what you're referring to. I'm guessing it's nothing like Tool :)

I'm well aware, what I meant by screamo is where the song is just it shouting in your ear for the duration. I don't class all metal music as "screamo". Only really what I said I class as "screamo" Sorry If I annoyed you but please don't assume because I said that means I label most music.

Abandoned Pools are pretty good. Well, I'm guessing they are, this is all I've listened to.
This is what I've been either listening to or, if I'm not, wanting to listen to recently. So, if you're like me, you'll like it. Although I doubt you're as cool as me.
Also, go watch Clone High. Do it. If you like the theme, you might as well, since Abandoned Pools did some background music for the show. I think...

Try John Petrucci. He has some very tasteful guitar tone. It's heavy at times, melodic at others, but never seems to hurt my ears. He has an instrumental solo album so you don't have to be concerned about screaming/shouting.
Also, this is obligatory:

Best song ever! Listen to the whole song though because the beginning might seem weird if your not expecting it.
