However, I too am just slightly peeved at the lack of anything substantial being presented. I understand it, but It would have been nice to get a clearer picture than what the update emails provide on what the game will look/play like. Its no big deal, just a tad bit annoying.
Part of it is that they're taking community feedback on all this stuff. Top-down/isometric, combat mechanics, etc. haven't been nailed down yet because they want to run a couple of versions by the community for feedback. Personally, I'm fine with it - these guys know what they're doing, and I'm 100% okay with them using their forums as a giant focus group. (Especially since it's quick/easy to sign up haha.)

Well I already gave 65$ [small](Boxed copy + shipping)[/small], it looks OK, so far I'm liking Fallout 1 so a more refined version of it would probably be something I'd enjoy, though to tell the truth I only donated because I want that extra skill, I have no idea what it is but I really want it, if it weren't for it I would have waited until whenever it comes out.

Excuse me while I just nip out and rob a bank so I can do the 10k pledge, and afford other stuff among that.

Rest assured, I do agree with you. As I suggested Its little more than an annoyance that there is not a lot to point to in justifying supporting the kickstart other than copious amounts of reputation. Its an annoyance, but one that will likely bear fruit in a year or two.

I like the overgrown foliage look, as opposed to the completely barren style of most post-apoc settings.
I agree, it's more realistic and makes for less repetitive environments.
more realistic? you must not know what the aftermaths of an atomic explosion look like. or when a meteor hits a planet.

They had my $115 (copy + shipping) weeks ago. Naturally, I hope the game is successful and that we get more of this in the future. I honestly could just live on isometric RPGs and barely need other genres except for the briefest of breaks for variety.

honestly I think isometric doesn't really work that well
for example, I think Fallout New Vegas' environment was better than the ones in Fallout and Fallout 2 due to its first person camera, which allowed you to have a better sight of the world, while isometric only really just shows you the floor =P

No thanks, I don't really like the isometric rpg games. I'm sure that it will have a good story as it seems to have some pretty important people behind, but the gameplay is too lacking for me to take interest in it.

Depends on how recent the damage was. Most post apocalyptic settings are set a very long time after the end of the world, hundreds of years even, that is more than enough time for nature to start coming back

How do you know how the gameplay is gonna be already ? Do you have a crystal ball or something ?
A guess? They said its going to be isometric right? I don't like that kind of gameplay so I probably wouldn't like it in wasteland 2 unless its radically different from what I've seen of isometric games already

They have said they are going to make an isometric RPG several times. If he doesn't like that anyway then there's no reason for him to donate to it.

Isometric is a camera angle. What does that have to do with gameplay ?
Well then they said they are going to make an Isometric RPG in the style of Fallout. So if he doesn't like the gameplay in Fallout then he has no reason to donate to this.

Isometric RPGs denote top down turn based strategy combat.

I don't know why you are upset that someone expresses that isn't their cup of tea. They =/= you.

This. I've played the original fallout and wasn't really my thing, if you like that fine whatever but I don't. When the game comes out I might check it out and see if its any fun but I'm not going to put money towards something I'm not interested in.

I'm not upset at all. Just saying you can have extremely different gameplay which all use the isometric view. Does Diablo play the same as Icewind Dale, or Fallout or Jagged Alliance 2 ?? They all play very different.
Well I do love Diablo but that's more an action rpg than a turn based like the old fallout style. I guess its the turn based combat that turns me off from it
