Heya everyone,

So...I have to take care of my sister's two daughters for a few days and to survive this ordeal I need to keep them occupied with something.

I freely admit I have no clue which games could be fun for them. Could be co-op or single play - no versus cause I'm pretty sure my sister will be upset if they kill each other. They are six and twelve years old by the way.

Have to be PC games and playable with 360 controller.

Please help, you're my only hope!

The new Rayman Games (Legends and Origins)
Because they are good, and you can play with them if you want.

Emulators are out of the question? Kirby Super Star on the Super Nintendo is the very definition of family-friendly co-op. I +1 the Rayman games above, too. Castle Crashers has got great 4 player co-op, but does have some stylized gore. Your mileage may vary depending on how squeamish they are and if you have parental approval. It's a blast with friends too.

Didn't think of an emulator, but that's actually a really good idea.

By the way, when I read your suggestions I went over to Steam and Rayman Legends jumped up as flash sale! Awesome with 50% off.

The game seems like a lot of fun, thanks.

A 12-year old and a 6-year old huh? I wonder just how sophisticated 6-year olds are nowadays.

I suggest Contrast. It's on PC (Just over $11 for the next 24 hours on Steam) [http://store.steampowered.com/app/224460/] and will work with a 360 controller [http://steamcommunity.com/app/224460/discussions/0/648814843739781072/].

The game is slow paced, has excellent art direction, and doesn't not punish you much when it comes to timing and collision detection. Actually, it's easy to die in the game, but you restart almost immediately and from close to where you left off. The puzzles may stump the younger sister, and you may have to step in and give them a hint sometimes. Overall, it's a fairly short game that won't hold much appeal for adults, but I think kids will take to it more. Also, there's a few scenes with some thugs and one scene with a gun, and it's possible to see the mother character shoot the father, but he lives (also, I think it's an easter egg). Everyone but you and the little girl are depicted as shadows.

My default go-to for stupid fun are the collective works of Justin Smith [http://www.captain-games.com/], creator of Enviro Bear 2000. His games are simple, small executables which you can download for free. Enviro Bear is just bizarre, and other titles like RSSS (Realistic Summer Sports Simulator) are really good for a laugh simply because the games are so one dimensional and hard to control. All of his games are usually mouse-controls only, with a few keyboard inputs.

Unfortunately Botanicula has no controller support, but it's all mouse controls. It's also adorable, and a very, very cute game that's worth playing for both adult and children. I also recommend Samorost 2, and the first Samorost [http://amanita-design.net/samorost-1/] is free to play and works in a browser. Again, sorry, no 360 controller support.

Aside from those, I don't know what to recommend. Trine or Trine 2 perhaps? Wouldn't that be surprising if they showed up and asked if you had GTA V.

Stacking, oh good lord Stacking.

More of a puzzle game, but it's super accessible and fairly short, but fun and charming nonetheless.

How about Minecraft? My ten year old sister adores it and so do quite a few other children I know, both boys and girls.

The LEGO games are always fun, I'm playing LEGO Lord of the Rings right now and loving it. Co-op and I think that all of them support controllers (in fact, they play much better with a controller).

I agree with lego games. Maybe find out what they're interested in, like Star Wars, probably the avengers, and get the closest corresponding lego game.

If not that, then I can tell you one that my sister really enjoyed at that age; viva piƱata. You basically design and maintain a garden and you attract the lovely little living piƱatas to come live with you. You do sometimes get vandals come through and you have to hit them with your shovel to make them leave.

Can second this.

OT: The lego games are a great co-op experience, even with the fact that you can brutally murder the brick out of each other. There fun, brightly colored and not too heavy on the story. Easy for a child to pick up, neigh ideal for a child to pick up. Plus, on Steam, they're relatively cheap.
