A while back I tried starting up a video game review series on You-tube and here on the Escapist but, due to problems with my recording equipment as well as other personal issues, I haven't done any work on it since last year. I recently decided to get back into it. I purchased better equipment and am preparing to get started on my next review, but I need some help.

In my last video review, I had a theme song that was decent but not quite what I wanted (plus several of my friends said they hated it) so now I am looking for a new one. I've browsed around on the Newgrounds Audio Portal (where I got my original song) but so far I haven't found anything I really liked.

So, I was hoping someone here could perhaps make me a song, or at least point me in the direction of a good place to get one. I can't afford to pay for it, but I will give full credit to the artist in my videos.

Specifications:
No Lyrics
15-30 seconds long (or at least can be edited to that length)
Preferably Rock themed, but I'm willing to give anything a shot.
Edit: I also would like to avoid music from signed artists or video games.

This is the full length version of the song I originally used...

Anyway, that's about it. I would really appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Thanks!

You should try Asche zu Asche by Rammstein or Ace of Spades by Motorhead or Black Ice by AC/DC.
You can all so try Winston Churchill auto-tune it sound's epic.
Hope this helps.

I don't want to use anything from a signed artist, but thanks for the suggestion.

wow your friends didn't like that. Well that's just silly, it's a rather cool sounding song. Anyways why not just use a remix of a song you already know?

Well, I'm trying to make this as "professional" as possible, so I am really trying to go with an original song.

Try browsing BeeMP3. They've got plenty of free (and as far as I and it's community know, legal) tracks for you to pick from. I'm sure if you lurk there long enough, you could find some music that fits.

Otherwise, I think it'd be a good idea to either go for movie/video game soundtracks or classical music. No-one will mind if you go for "Night on Bald Mountain" or something. But personally, I think you should go for this song:

The first 30 or-so seconds is lyricless. And even then, the rest isn't even in English anyway. It's rock, of course, and has a really cool Nordic vibe. Looking forward to seeing your reviews, hopefully, with this song as the header!

(Oh, also: anything between 1:46 and 2:44 should be perfect.)

Here's some stuff, I used a song from here for a school PSA [http://www.incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/index.html?genre=Rock]. That said, we only showed that to people at school, so you may need to ask the guy who owns the site. Search around, there was an FAQ on the homepage.

[i\]P.S. "What better way to seem professional than to appear as though you have an obscure taste? I mean, who else has heard of an Estonian metal band?" [/i]

Why don't you try video game BGM? Something must be good...

In the same vein, why not try CarboHydroM's song "Killer Pawn"? Close to the ending, it starts up Dr. Wily Stage 1/2 from MegaMan 2. It's pretty good, but, if it's not your cup of tea, then you could try something else...

That is an awesome song, and I'm definitely not going to rule it out, but it doesn't really feel right to me. Thanks though.

Aw, is it the bagpipes? It's probably the bagpipes isn't it? People can't seem to enjoy those things for some reason.

What [i\]exactly[/i] is the composition you're looking for? We have "no lyrics", "short" and "rock", but what else?

EDIT: Ah, I see the problem. They are signed artists, yes, that could be a problem.

The signed artist thing is part of it but that's not all. I like the song, it doesn't feel right for this project.

And yes, the bagpipes are part of it, but the flute or piccolo or whatever it is that guy is playing is a bigger part of it.

Ah, I see. Don't worry, i'll find one you can't refuse eventually!

Your doing youtube reviews.

I vote no song, intros are just a waste of time which everyone skips anyways.

Apparently, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, and Radiohead are all unsigned artists. You wouldn't happen to be fans of any of those bands would you?

Not unless you'd like to make a good first impression. There are such things as "catching tunes" (Don't remember the actually phrase) which television shows will often play before and after commercials to indicate one is leaving or returning from a viewing. Not to mention the show's actual intro. Both catche the audience's attention, and, if they are fans, excites or gets them back into the mood of the show.

This same principal can be applied to the opening for just about anything. It can also be done to inform the audience of the subject matter. A good example is what Yahtzee did with his earlier reviews, using music which somehow matched the game he was reviewing.

Then again, it doesn't have to be music. The Nostalgia Critic has headed almost all of his reviews with the spoken phrase "Hellooo i'm the Nostalgia Critic, I remember it so you don't have to!" And it has remained unchanged for around 150 or-so reviews (With a few one-episode gag variations.)

Anyway, to summarize for the tl'dr readers: The point is to grab an audience's attention and maybe even be mildly entertaining.
