Hi guys.

I appear to have just had a memory relapse of a game that I used to play in my childhood...but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. Perhaps someone might be able to help?

From what I can recall, it was an RPG (I THINK it was third person) and it had a Norse/Viking theme and the plot had something to do with Ragnarok and towards the end of the game you travelled to Valhalla (I have a vivid memory of crossing some floating islands and climbing a long flight of stairs to Asgard).

Any help would be appreciated, and forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section -- although I've had an account for years this is the first time I've made a thread on these forums :p

Valkyrie Profile. Exact to what you're describing. Wonderful game, the sequel and spinoffs? Not so much.

By the gods I'm getting old. Any time someone says 'old game from childhood', I think Atari, and try my best to think of Nes and Snes games. (Then again, if I'm wrong and you're talking about a game from back then, shame on me.)

After a little googling I can assure you it's not Valkyrie Profile. It was a lot grittier and significantly less...Japanese.

Any idea what system it was for? What general year you played it? Would help.

Umm, Rune? I haven't played the single player, so I don't know if you go to Valhalla or not but i wouldn't be surprise if you do. It was really vikingy third person action game.

See if any of these screenshots bring back memories

You know, Rune rings a bell. I can't say I recognize much from the screenshots, DoPo, but the name certainly sounds familiar. In fact after looking at the wikipedia entry regarding the ending, it seems pretty certain.

Thanks for the help guys (Especially you, DoPo -- cheers :D), I think we've found it.
