I read a book as a kid and I just can't remember the title of it...
Here is what I remember of the book. The main character is a young female, I believe in her early teens. She finds out she's actually a wizard when she meets another young teen, a male, in a junkyard. They learn that every wizard has a particular element they are most attuned to and their wands must be wrought from this element. The young male uses an old car antenna as his wand, since his element is metal, and the young girl uses an elm branch (it may have been a different type of tree) bathed in moonlight as hers. They end up in an alternate reality (don't remember why) to obtain some magical artifact. Any ideas?
I googled what I could it the first 10 pages were Harry Potter and Wicca... or the history of wands...
