I remember luring noobs in to the wilderness and killing them when I got deep enough. Classic times.
Oh man, those were the days.

I remember me and my friends would set up ambushes...

Ah, the good ol' days.
Same here. And I remember when I finally got my full Rune armour after weeks of saving for it. I took it to Level 1 of the Wilderness, found a guy who wasn't wearing any armour, and attacked him. I got my ass handed to me and lost absolutely everything.

I don't play many MMOs, though I have been enjoying Warhammer. I'd say get back into that.

just wait for the new Knights of the Old republic game. If you dont like any of MMOs now no reason to waste money on them.

though if you want to pvp without any of the grind I think you better look into a differnt game then classic MMOs. Know what Im saying?

I am currently playing Three Kingdoms: http://threekingdoms.uforia.com/ - If Chinese history interests you, although I will say this. Some anti-virus programs will stop it and delete a file but the file it deletes is a anti-hacking file so just go to your virus vault and restore it... as well as making sure that you add the launcher to the "excluded files" tab in "advanced options" under "Tools". Currently there is a 300% exp event and regular PvP events as well as a "wilderness" type area between each city where you can attack people from the different countries... I have alligned myself with Wu. :D

But I can also recommend this: http://www.bountybayonline.com/en/freetoplay/index.html - If you like PIRATES!

Both are free and fun, I mostly search through F2P MMOs and find a gem every so often.

Oh and: http://www.ddo.com/playnow/ - If you like D&D.

If the big budget games aren't good enough for your PvP tastes, I seriously doubt any low budget ones will suit your taste...sorry.
That was pretty much my thoughts about the whole thing.

Like many here said, I'm guessing I'll just wait until SWtOR.

I forgot to mention that runescape was my first mmo xD.

Whoever said Global Agenda, I'm already playing that (gonna play that or APB) but I don't consider an MMO because it is broken up into instances all the time and it's a tps.

Can't help you, I look for different things in MMOs, like 2D graphics, catchy music, mind-numbingly colorful/shiny environments, the ability to dress up as a monster so I can provoke noobs to try & catch me...that's all I ask for.

I say try Age of Conan. It's nowhere near as bad as it was at launch, and it's shaping up to be quite a good game. I only played for a month, but I had fun in Hybrodia, and especially as a melee character PvP can be tons of fun.

Sounds a bit like MapleStory to me:

Don't choose any of them. They will suck out your soul and return it to you when you finally come to your senses and quit as a small brown shrivelled remenant of what it once was. Stick to wholesome online multiplayer in fpses or mainly single-player fantasy games.

Eve Online for a PvP-Oriented MMO ^^

One of a few games where losing actually costs something.

Well yes, but Trickster is way more fun & less movement limiting.

Personally I say Guild Wars but I have to ask the question if you can't spend enough time to get into a starting PvP guild and get into meta you probably don't have enough time for a pvp MMO. Also Guild Wars is more to do with how you use your skills rather than having a really powerful skill bar making it more about how you do it rather than what you're doing. So you can't complain about that.

For PvP, definatly Planetside. It's a first person shooter mmo. There are no NPCs who give you quests or anything like that. Everyone you see is another player. It can be frustrating at times, but its incredibly addictive and loads of fun, especially if you find a good outfit(planetside version of guild).
Unfortunatly, the game does have quite a few issues, but to be fair, it is about 7 years old, and owned by SOE, who neglect it.
They are making a Planetside 2, but i doubt that will be out for a long time.
