Intro
Character/avatar names have always been important to me. I have always given a lot of thought in naming my persona. Sometimes I hit a roadblock... either the name already exists (even though it's pretty original) or the name is not allowed. In those cases I can usually think of something else. But now, for the first time, I am out of ideas. So time to take it to the forums and make a fun little contest.

The Goal
I finally got a PS3 and I want to register an user name. But my game persona (4RM3D) is not allowed because of some silly rule the name has to start with a letter. My name in the anime scene is anime247. Not very original but surprisingly no one ever used it... until now.

So give one or more suggestions for an awesome name.

Rules
- Male name
- Should be available (obviously) [footnote]although I really have no idea how to check it, short of actually registering[/footnote]
- No names like xX_name_Xx
- Preferable one with a meaning behind it

Restrictions from Sony
- Has to start with a letter
- 16 character limit
- Only letters, numbers and _ and - are allowed

Rewards
If your name is choose, I'll PM you with a list of games you can pick from. I have about 15-20 Steam keys/bundles you can choose from.

I think the only way to check if a name is available is to try to add a person by that name to your friends list. If an account by that name exists it'll give you the option of sending a friend request and if not then I guess it'll tell you that it can't find that person.

Problem is that you can only send friend requests from your actual console, and considering I don't have a keyboard for my PS3 it would take me too long to figure out which names are in use or not, so this is really more effort than is worth it for me.

Still, if people were wondering how to check the availability of a PSN user name, I guess you have your answer.

Ready for some mental gymnastics? Because I like having at least one oblique suggestion :p

"Schachmatt" The German term for checkmate (at least that's what Google tells me), suggested here due to your current avatar (the character does love chess, and though he's British by birth, English is a Germanic language[footnote]Told ya I like going oblique. Stupidly so, in fact, just because it amuses me :p[/footnote])

"D4N93R0U5" I would not be surprised if this was already taken. Plays off your [apparent] usual handle, giving you "armed" and "dangerous".

"R34DY" (Probably too simple, unappealing and probably taken). Like the above it also plays off your [apparent] usual handle to give you "armed" and "ready".

This is fun, how about:

"Magnum Opus" Meaning the Great Work and is an alchemical term for the process of creating the philosopher's stone. The philosopher's stone was an inspiration for the manga Fullmetal Alchemist.

"ARM3D Totoro" An adaptation of your usual game persona with the logo character from Studio Ghibli.

"Gaia Soldier" Inspired by the Gaia hypothesis which is a common theme used in the Final Fantasy games.

"Diamondback" I saw on your profile you like biking and Diamondback is my favourite bicycle brand.

I didn't go and verify if it is open, but:

Geass Slayer

Sounds relatively neat, since you have a Lelouch avatar and all.

vidyagaems247.

Brilliant, right?

I'm kidding, but really, I don't have much to go on. Maybe Kao-Nashi? Not sure if taken, but you're a fan of anime apparently, and well...you don't have a name. ^^

ARM3D_Geass

That's what I got. You've got a Code Geass avatar, and you're known for your name here so you'll be easy to find. Good compromise, I think.

Heres a load of tough guy names;
Johnny concrete
Clint stingray
Vinnie rockafella

A really good name i heard on a tv show in the UK was Finn Sharkey (see link). The program was terrible but my sister used to watch it and they had (attempted) some really dramatic scenes about suicide but i couldnt stop laughing at his rediculous name. Even worse he tried to commit by drowning in the ocean. That terrible writing gives you an indication of what the show is like. any way to cut a long story short finn sharkey is a pretty cool name nonetheless

Gaius Octavius.
I think that's the shortest name/title Caesar ever had.
Edit: wrong person, Caesar was his uncle

"Armatus" - Armed in Latin. Could always replace letters 4 numbers, making "ARM41US" or something of the sort

Other then that you could always go for an "ironic" "xX_OvErLyCoMpLeXnAmE_Xx".

Try "Calygreyhound" or some other obscure mythological creature - these sometimes are available.
or something referring to weapons like : Artillerator or "Barrage of missles"
maybe an acronym like R.E.G.I.S Mk V. or some other reference to a cool armed robot from somewhere.
