Here I sit, on July 4th, and I have to go to work in a few hours (My store never closes, ever). My problem is that with my few hours of freedom I could do just about anything. I have dozens of games I have not beaten, or that I enjoy playing. I have movies, books, and my wife is always up to play some WoW with our low level alts.

Here is my problem. I cannot decide what to do. Everything I think of takes time investment, and then I think about it and think, "well if I do that, then I'll be done about this time, and only have another hour before I have to go to work" :(. I am so incredibly indecisive and I have so many choices. How do you guys (and gals!) decide what to do in your free time?

This is actually a problem in a lot of areas of my life; I have a big problem with wide open decisions. Any advice for how to get myself in action and not just wasting my days sitting around deciding what I don't want to spend time doing?

Edited title for clarity of my issue.

You ever consider doing something new entirely?

Sometimes, a change of pace entirely can help you find new motivation and decisiveness.

Do you play any instruments? If not, it's never a bad idea to buy yourself an inexpensive guitar or something similar, just to learn and practice. It doesn't have to be an instrument - anything you can learn, such as woodworking or art, is great to break the rut of indecisiveness.

Alternately, you can set yourself a schedule in the week and decide exactly what you'll do day by day...but then, it's no longer fun.

I have exactly the same problem. I have so many games to choose from that I can't decide so I just end up sitting idle when I could be making some progress in a game. I try to think of it logically. I'm going to play all these games eventually anyway so it doesn't matter what I play. But, that doesn't always seem to work.

I've tried random selection, or making a list to strictly adhere to. Those don't work either for me. So best advice I can say is play the game that strikes your mind as appealing first and pop it in and start playing. If you find out you don't like it after giving it a good go, choose another. However, hopefully by then you are into the game and problem solved.

I think I'm going to try the list thing. I have two games in particular than I am very close to beating. I've decided that I will beat those two before I move on to any other. I still have a choice, but its more limited. I'll see how that goes.

Give yourself a project!
Since you like games, why not, say, model your own suit of armor for Oblivion or something? Get a headstart on your personal Dovakin look.
And if you're not that into your project, putzing around in your free time now earns you the charming feeling of procrastination, if you're the kind of person to like that.
