Recently my graphics card burnt out and had to be removed leaving the computer running on the chipset graphics. So escapist can you recommend me a free or <$25 game that will run on the following specs:

OS: XP 32-bit
Processor: Intel Pentium D 2.8 Ghz
Ram: 1GB
Graphics: Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family

Don't laugh at my computer, I'm getting a new one or maybe an XBox360 later.

No FPS, RTS or Turn Based Combat games. I might be interested in a Turn Based if you can tell me anything that makes it differ from the standard FF walk, smash, walk back routine.

Get Team Fortress 2 off Steam, it's free and probably one of the best PC games I came to know of (personally for me that is). Even if you don't like it whatsoever, least you didn't spend money on it along with the simple solution to uninstall the game just like that~!
That runs real slow on my computer I should also mention I don't want multiplayer.

Cudo's for still using XP.
Erm.... Heroes of might and magic III or IV. It might look a bit odd, and you will need to love strategy, but they are cheap(er) these days now that V and VI are out. And I had my share of fun with them.

Otherwise Red Alert anyone?

Whatever you do don't do the console route....stick to the PC! Maybe look into the RPG market...there are some real gems there....

I think its "Blood Omen" but yeah, get all the Legacy of Kain games if you can (especially Soul Reaver, it is the fan favourite for a reason), Zoo Tycoon comes to mind for me, it isn't a demanding game in the slightest.

Quoting myself from an indie thread:

Games? You need:

Amnesia - Horror survival first person PoV, might not run in a low end computer

Braid - plataformer puzzle

Breath of Death VII - JRPG

Crayon Physics Deluxe - Physical puzzle

Cthulhu Saves the World - JRPG

Jamestown - SHMUP

Machinarium - Adventure

Super meat boy - Plataformer, you will probably hate it, kinda hard

World of Goo - Puzzle

Battle of Wesnot - Tunr Based Strategy

Beat Hazard Ultra - Asteroids clone

Bloodline Champions - Arena PvP, might not run in a low end computer, free

GundeadliGne - SHMUP

Heroes of Newerth - DotA, might not run in a low end computer, free

Magicka - Kinda like Golden axe if you could do combos and 3/4 PoV, might not run in a low end computer

Puzzle Pirates - Puzzle MMO, free

Terraria - Who knows, i have it, but same as minecraft bores me to tears.

VVVVVV - Plataformer, have some tricky parts

BIT.TRIP - Comes in various flavours, good stuff.

Bastion - A simplified Diablo clone that offers an amazing gaming experience.

Limbo - Plataformer, good atmosphere

Those are the essentials, as for some more stuff:

And yet it moves

Atom Zombie Smasher

Brainpipe

Capsized

Cogs

Osmos

Shatter

Cortex Command

Greed Corp

Hitogata Happa

Gundemonium

Monday Night Combat

Revange of the Titans

Hard Reset

Steel Storm

Tidalis

Vertex Dispenser

All of those are interesting. Also, most of them can be bought for cheap in Steam. Also desktop dungeons seems worth of my time, will check it out later.

Is it finally out? Or at least in Beta? The one with the cartoon graphics i mean.

And go and DL Battle of Wesnot right now, its TBS but much more emphasis on strategy than FFT

Well, it looks like I'm in the same situation as you, only worse.
OS: XP 32 bit
Processor: Pentium 2.7GHz
RAM: 512mb
Graphics: Intel 845g, (I think it's the one before yours).

So if anyone can recommend any for me as well, that'd be great, because it seems silly to make a whole new thread.
And no I can't run TF2.

There's nothing wrong with consoles. If he wants to play current games but not fork out for a whole new rig its a good idea.

OT: The few I found I could run were mainly FPSs, so...

It'd be hypocritical of me to laugh at you... your pc is close to twice as powerful as the one I had a couple of months ago. Well, maybe my graphics card was a bit better.
Diablo 2 is always a good choice, the first Fallouts if you're into that, Planescape: Torment, Claw is a great platformer, given that you can find a copy...

Why no RTS? You are missing out on Starcraft: Brood War, the best game of all time, which is less than $25 and runs on almost anything.

I guess a game that would fit your criteria though is Mount and Blade: Warband. I duno how one would classify it but it's majorly addictive!

Puzzle Pirates - Puzzle MMO that does things differently to most MMO's. Its free and quick to download, and you can play for free 'realisticly' rather than feeling you have to buy something. Highly reccomend.

not your typical crpg, but interesting nevertheless :

Here...

...you can find plenty of games that are maybe simple, but still fun. "Gardenscapes" and "Haunted Hotel" practicaly saved my marriage. Please don't laugh.

Also, try dosBox emulator. There are very interesting games out there that aged quite well.

With all due respect, but good half of this list either require hardware much more powerful machine than availeble or depend on some libratries that will kill his machine. Terraria is a good example. Bastion ? Amnesia ?

If Turn-Based is ok, I suggest Masters of Orion 2 or Fallout 1 & 2.

Bastion ran in my netbook with integrated graphs, some hiccups here and there but decent overall. Of the first list the ones that wouldn't run in my netbook were marked for the OP to avoid.
