So after being stuck on 10 year old hardware, I recently bought a new pc and dived into modern gaming. unfortunately nothing seemed to quite click and all the games I thought I would love, I'm just not really into.

I want to find a decent rpg, any setting, any amount of players, as long as it has solid PvE and grouping.
I love playing support/healer roles, so anything class based or with strong customization to allow that is good.

I loved diablo 2, neverwinter nights, WoW, but I've played them all to death. I thought I was going to love skyrim, fallout nv, and guildwars2, but they all seemed to be lacking that something special.

Does anyone have a recommendation, any epic stories from the last 5-10 years I need to play, or any guilds in need of a healer?

Bloodlines. But that doesn't have classes - it does have customization, though, since it's point buy. Then again, no party, dunno if you're into this. Redemption might be more up your alley. Still no classes, but it plays a lot more like NWN - you get a party and walk around killing stuff. Erm, although the party AI is bloody horrendous. Have you tried Knights of the Old Republic? I think that's something that would interest you more.

And since you said D2, I'd suggest Torchlight 2. It's really good at being Diablo, heck, even the music is similar. And it's a 20$ game, too - bonus. If you wait a bit, you can probably pick it up reduced on Steam or just for the holidays (it has a non-Steam version, too). Other than that, I've heard Titan Quest being often tossed around when discussing both, so I take it it's also good. There is also Path of Esile, which is in beta, I believe, but aesthetic-wise it looks like a D2 ripoff, the gameplay is vaguely similar, too but just on the surface. From what I've seen, at lest, and I've some video reviews - I might be wrong.

Try Dragon Age: Origins for a classic Bioware RPG with a party and a certain amount of freedom in the choices you make (but not, ultimately the order of things you do)
If you like diablo, then the Torchlight games are very much in the same vein (and may be wrong, but I think it's made up of former Blizzard people)

KotOR is another one I've played to death, same with torchlight 1, so 2 should be a pretty safe bet.

and I had completely forgotten dragon age existed, I'll have to take a look at that too. thanks , should keep me entertained for a while. :D

What he said. Dragon age is great and there is a skill set in the mage class that focuses on support so that should be good for you.

Seeing as you said you liked WoW Guild Wars 2 and RaiderZ are very good f2p mmos RaiderZ is free, GW2 is $60 they both have support classes as well.

Also DA2 isn't as horrible as some would have you beleive, it was merely mediocre.

Can't help you with MMOs, which is what it kind of sounds like you want.

Neverwinter Nights 2 + Mask of the Betrayer. Is great and fits well with your tastes.

Allow me to throw the Witcher 2 into the ring. Sure, the first one is lacking but the second is nothing short of awesome. You thankfully don't have to really have played the first as the game does come with it's own knowledge database of sorts and alot of the fun comes from learning about the lore and game world.

But yeah, Witcher 2 is very good, i recommend it.

A game that massively impressed me was Mount and Blade War-bands. I guess you didn't get a nice new set-up to revert back to dated graphics, but this game is out of this world addictive.

Historically based, open world, rpg/team management, 3rd person hack and slash.

Play it for a bit. It's amazing.

I was going to recomend Dragons Dogma but it's not a Pc game so I'll just jump on the bandwagon and say Dragon age certainly does sound like your thing. I'd also go with Divinity 2, though it may not be perfect.

One game that has highly impressed me is Path of Exile by Grinding Gear Games. It's currently in its Closed Beta stage, but you can buy in for $10 only. Open beta comes in Jan 23rd.

This is the game that Diablo 3 should have been and has the potential to become this decade's Diablo 2 (yes, it has that much potwntial). Gameplay in terms of combat is very similar to D2, but that's where the similarities end. For example, as you level, you gain passive skill points. With 1 point per level this leaves a INSANE number of options, especially when the skill tree has over 1500 nodes!

Take a look at videos on YouTube

Eternal thanks all, I've got 2 weeks off work for the christmas holidays, so I will be investigating a vast number of these titles while I have the time to do it. And I'm definately loving the amount of F2P games at the moment, its a system i could get used to :p

I find the lack of dungeon siege disturbing. But yea if you are used to delve into corridor restricted and being dumped into a huge area where u search to find adventure it ends up being purely frustrating.Although they grow into players
Now a few suggestions
For MMO:
continent of the ninth seals(C9)=F2P from steam(NO HEALER all are DD)
The secret world=B2P with nice story
For single player/coop:
Try the Divinity saga with most prominent Divinity 2:Ego Draconis
Torchlight 2
Dragon Age
Titan Quest

I assume you want games that take advantage of your new hardware, so I'll start by suggesting The Witcher 1 and The Witcher 2. If you want to try some older RPGs that you might've missed I strongly suggest that you try Deus Ex and Fallout 1 & 2.

I was about the recommend Fallout: New Vegas when I read that you are more intersted in the traditional rpg gameplay, which New Vegas doesn't offer a lot of. Dragon Age: Origins would be another good choice I guess.
