Parrot (see what I did there?). Yes it's true, I am a proud owner of a baby African Grey parrot. Well anyway it's been a few days and it's going extraordinarily well, the breeder did a remarkable job getting it used to human contact. The only problem is I have nothing to call it and I truly suck at names (I called my cat Bandit :|, you can see him in my avatar).

I look to my Escapist bretherin to step up to the challenge and give me some suggestions. I think it's a girl but I don't really care about gender specific names, so long as it sounds good.

Not sure how to upload my own pictures but since they all look pretty similar here is a random google result:

Winner gets a cookie, but you'll need to buy it yourself!
Congratulations on acquiring a bird that is noted for getting terribly depressed in captivity. Name it Victim.
Also this...birds aren't meant to be kept in cages.

My father had a parrot just like that. His name was Spook. I always thought that was such a great name for 'im.

Admiral Featherton. Or possibly Sir Oswald Featherton the Third, Esquire. Either works.

You could name it after a character you like from a TV show, video game or book or something. I'm terrible with names, so that's what I usually do.

Dickballs. It is always Dickballs.
what about fagballs instead?
Personally I never use the word fag, but different strokes for different folks I suppose.
hey i was only using a Yahtzee quote that's all
(FYI:Zero Punctuation: Zelda Phantom Hourglass review)
I believe mine is Brentalfloss in a rather roundabout way. Lots of people make jokes about how you can make your name dirty words in RPGs. Dickballs is my favorite, and is now forever saved into my phone's spellcheck. This pleases me.

I would honestly call it "Grey". It sounds nice to me, and it reflects the fact that it's an African Grey Parrot, and if you want to teach it a name, you'd probably be better off using a simple one word name. Parrot's and most birds are relatively intelligent animals, and they can learn a word/name associated to them, but it's best to keep it simple. And really, would you ever feel bad about saying "Hey Grey" and having your parrot respond? My two cents. If I was pressed about it, I might call it Gary. With a bird that can mimic human sounds, you don't want to name it something that it would have a hard time mimicking, just a simple one or two syllable word. And that's the difference I see with naming a bird versus naming a dog or cat. A bird, especially a parrot will learn it's name. Do you want it saying "fagballs" everytime you enter the room, or do you want it saying "grey" or "gary". Not that those are the best name, but your parrot will most likely say the name you give it.

But yeah, I'm not a huge fan of birds, but I respect them as animals. And the African Grey is a beautiful bird. And some species of birds have the amazing ability to recreate human sounds, so they impress me. I just don't like when I wake up and go to work in the morning and I have three giant turkey shits on my windshield.
