I had a steampunk mod for UT2004 but for the life of me i can't remember the name of it. Bioshock is a good steampunk shooter though.

the feeling of things that aren't originally designed to fit together fitting together in a bizarre but pleasing hybrid.
I don't know loads about the genre either, but with Fallout it just seemed to me that the Victorian sensibilities and the steam based technology (two huge aspects of steampunk) were missing. The technology in Fallout is quite primitive and haphazard, but thats in keeping with the setting.
Now I remember... it was the railwayrifle... that made me totally think of steampunk... must be the noise it makes or something... plus it's powered by a pressure cooker!

I so need to get Bioshock, but the RRoD and geographical seperation from my family's PS2 is putting paid to any new game plans that aren't PC or DS at the moment... However, I keep thinking of a Steampunk game that I saw an advert for in Gamesmaster magazine a while ago, it was withing the past 2 years and it was about a game where the world changed from magic to steampunk style or vice versa depending on the decisions you make during the game, like two opposing forces that changed the game depending on your own decisions. I just can't remember what it was called... Can anyone help me out here if you know what game I'm referring to?

A lot of the things people have listed are either Art deco, art deco revival/raygun gothic, and magepunk/steampunk hybrid.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
