So Ive been kind of losing my passion for gaming over the years, I don't really spend much time playing anymore unfortunately, I still play but not to the extent that I used to and I rarely ever play by myself these days, I mostly just spend time watching someone else play them instead of me, its not like I don't enjoy playing them anymore but I just can't be bothered to play games myself, I don't know why, so I was wondering what could I do to reignite my passion for gaming?

I didnt mean to post this in gaming discussion, I meant to put it in off topic, my bad.

Yeah this used to happen to me every now and then .

My suggestion , quit the triple-A games and go play a flawed gem . something that?s fun and unique but not necessarily a perfect game . i'd recommend something like Vampire: the masquerade bloodlines or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Well it is really simple, you need a new hobby.
Doing anything for too long will turn it into boredom, additionally you are probably getting older and new interests pop up (dating and humping mostly), so I suggest you pick a hobby that is the opposite of gaming (social, outdoors, physical more then anything else).

And then gaming will feel like a good counterweight to your everyday activities, or perhaps you will find there are other more interesting things to do.

When all else fails, I can always count on an mmo to catch my attention.
Its always more interesting to play with other people, the interaction keeps things fresh.
Maybe give GW2 a bash, I know I am waiting for ESO personally.

I agree, now you're out of the rut it would be a good time to try something different that you think you'll be able to fit around whatever you're doing and hold your interest. The type of games I've played over the years has been entirely dependent on how much I have had going on in my life otherwise, and there's always something there :D

Easy, play Okami.

Or maybe just take a break from gaming, I also get those periods where I just don't have the energy to play anything anymore and go on a complete series\movie binge (or try out a new hobby)until I get that urge to play games again.

Go try games outside your prefered genres or keep playing more seldom, maybe that might bring back a spark in a few months or so.
Get another hobby besides gaming, you said running so also hitting the gym a few times a week?
I work out a lot and play a lot, two very different things that bring balance, besides studying / working of course
Good luck and have fun! :D

If I work out I tend to do it at home. I don't really get out much.

Well, why did you play games before your passion for them started to fade? For me, it's always been about expressing myself through the game - and when I struggle to find new games that let me do that I care less and less for the medium. Find out what made you interested to begin with, and work from there!

Just don't play anything after 2001 that's not by Valve, Nintendo, or Capcom

...really? Nothing good has been made since 2001 that has been made by one of three developers?

I think I've been doing this whole gaming thing wrong.

Well you're born -91 (same as me) and working out is good, but finding a proper gym will defineatly help you train better, more opportunities which also makes the training more fun. Like playing different games so you don't get bored of doing the same stuff the same stuff.
And I'm not telling you to hit on chicks at the gym, I go to a small gym myself with not too many people at a time, which I find nice. Big gyms are better in the way that since there are more people you can see how others train and try new things out and mold a program more suitable for you.
Just options thou, continue with wathever suits you best, we're all different.

Make that '02. Those rules cut out my favorite game of all time: Morrowind.
