Okay since its currently summer and my friend has some down time because she doesn't have to do anything for school or work ATM she asked me what games would be good for her. She has a DS, Wii, PS2. She likes puzzle games and platformers and somewhat open worlds that you can explore. She HATES how the use of guns has become prominent. She enjoyed Jak and Sonic Adventre and hated Jak 3. She is getting the Legend of Zelda Collectors edition for the Gamecube because she hasn't played any of the Zelda games and wishes to start.

Games I have already suggested are:
Super Mario Galaxy 1+2.
Professor Layton.
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Games I have told her to look into:
The Zelda games for the DS.

Well, you did good so far, you haven't lived until you played Zelda (OoT).

-Tokobots might be fun (PS2 or PSP)
-Driving or racing games, say, Burnout Paradise is nice and easy to get into.
-PS2 is tough, because it's really for the adultgamers... Shadow of the Colossus is mostly about the epicness though, and if she were to upgrade to PS3: Little Big Planet
- Isn't there a Harves Moon on the Wii? As I recall, that is the direct inspiration for stuff like Farmville.

Hmm, looking through my personal collection right now, but i've accumulated quite a gore fest, so i don't really have all that much to give you.

Now you could try;

Monster Rancher 3 or 4(PS2), kind of an interactive pokemon game, actually quite fun.

Harvest Moon: Magical Melody (Wii), although the gameplay can be grueling, the graphics are laughable, and the story is pathetic, i spent the upper of 200 hours on that game,as it has a strange charm about it, so, it might be worth a try.

And last (and probably least) you could always try Sims 2:Castaway (PS2), yea, another sims game, but what appealed to me was the (semi) survival, I've never really played any games where you survive on a deserted island, and that came closer to emulating it then any other game,so it might be worth a try. :/

Endless ocean might be an idea for somebody not overly into violence or action. It's a very relaxing wii game, based around exploring the seas to your heart's content and studying all kinds of sea life.

If we are allowing PC then...

Mount and blade: Warband. You can play it in so many different ways and it definitely fits the open ended requisite
Sid Meiers: Pirates! Lots of fun, pretty art design, and well, pirates!

This is tough with the whole hating guns thing, everyone covered some really good ones already.

-Pokémon (everyone loves Pokémon!)
-Morrowind (surely she has a PC?)
-Metroid Prime Trilogy (or just the third)

You're set :)
I could giver her the third Metroid Prime when I see her but I don't think she'll like it. She doesn't want to play games on her PC. And she LOVES the pokemon games lol. She has actually yelled at me for not bringing mine with me when I went to hang out with her recently.

I second this recommendation. Hardly any guns, kinda has some puzzle type stuff, it's on the PS2 and it's pretty open-world.

Surprised no-one has said it yet. If she likes Zelda then she will like Okami. Amazing game. There's Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus, she might enjoy those too.
