Just looked up some clips: that show was so dumb and basic <3, I love it! FINALLY I can put these memories in their proper place. After endlessly inserting key words into Google Images you have released me from this anguish. Thank you for digging into your brain, and thank you to everyone else!

Come to think of it, even when I watched the show as a kid, I never really got that running joke. I mean, Lina's no Chesty LeRoux, sure, but she looked like she was at least a solid b-cup... maybe the confusion came from her constantly wearing that mantle. XD


On topic, sadly, most of the guesses in the thread are what would have sprung to my mind. mon-collecting was a pretty popular genre.

You could be thinking of Shinzo, now that I think about it. The monsters fought in that show became cards, which the heroes/villains could eat to gain their power.

Honestly, I was because you mentioned Jetix that made me remember, that there was a Anime show on there, that featured cards in it.

Though I had to google to figure out what the hell it was called, wikipedia luckily had a nice list of shows aired on Jetix, and to check the girl villain part as I did not remember that part. Probably also helps that I've seen more Anime than most would consider "healthy" haha.

Basically, the long running anime joke is either you have huge gigantic tits or you're a boy. It's more of a thing girls say to other girls and because Lina was with her much bustier friend in the past she developed a complex out of comparing herself to her and presumably from a whole lot of teasing so now she is hyper sensitive to any such comments. Bring in the very dense friend she runs into in the first series mistaking her for a boy since he's just that dense (which she took as being an issue related to her being a washboard) and she was irreparably damaged lol.


But no, that is the joke, they have a normal size chest but feel inadequate due to unrealistic expectations.
